Woodview Music Program/ Family Night
On Tuesday, December 12th, Woodview will be hosting their Music Program and Family Night at Belding High School! Families are encouraged to come in before or after their child's music performance and participate in the various fun family night activities that will be available to all from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Our 4th graders will be performing in the auditorium at 6:00pm that evening and should plan on meeting the fourth-grade teachers at their designated location within the high school at 5:45, in order to get everyone ready to go and onstage at 6:00 sharp. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Holiday Party
Our holiday party will be held first- thing in the morning on our half day, December 22nd. It will be short, but we will be able to eat a tasty breakfast before we go off to our holiday center activities/rotations. I will be sending home a Sign-Up Genius link (within the next week or so) of items that will be needed on the morning of our party. If you would be willing to volunteer to send in one (or more) of the items on our list, it would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
Field Trip to Lansing
As was mentioned in the announcement sent out to families earlier this week, our December 12th field trip to the State Capitol and Michigan History Museum has been rescheduled for March 1st, 2024. I just wanted to mention again that I truly appreciate your understanding and feel very fortunate to have had some many initial offers from family members to volunteer! If you are planning ahead and think that you would like to volunteer to attend the field trip with us in March, you can always get a head-start by getting your required online iChat (background check) form submitted within the next few months. 🙂 (The link to the online iChat form can be found at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfccr1Oy1hvaz74zJPuR3Fg_ml1DeUCw0bEbcrhj6aZurkxqw/viewform)
Math
Language Arts
Recently in Language Arts, we studied various types of poetry, including haikus and lyric poems. When reading through and discussing each of the poetry pieces within our Wonders curriculum, we paid close attention to the overall make-up of the poems (ex. number of lines, syllables, and format of the stanzas), as well as looked for rhyme and meter within our poetry selections.
In the area of writing, each of the students recently worked to publish their compare-and-contrast essay that details the similarities and differences of two animals/creatures of their choice. Next up, we will be composing our very own realistic fiction stories!
Social Studies
Our Social Studies lessons this week have been focused on the executive branch of government. During our daily activities, we have delved deeper into our study of the Supreme Court and the specific responsibilities and key feautures of our nation's highest court system If you get a moment, ask your student who appoints all Supreme Court Justice candidates and also see if they can explain 1-2 responsibilities of our Supreme Court judges.
