Curriculum Updates
Grades K-5 literacy (writing updates, new reading units)
Grades K-5 science - units will seek board approval throughout 2019 and 2022
Grades 6-9 social studies (BOE Approved)
K-5 Science Curriculum Team
This year a team of representatives from each elementary building piloted two science units. The team wrote curriculum and used MySci as a resource to support the curriculum. The Curriculum and Instruction Department has plans to provide these two units and resources to K-5 teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.
The life science unit will be taken to the Board of Education for approval in June. Once the curriculum has been approved, we will put in place the orders for the unit. Each building has the option of receiving the life science resources either first or second quarter. The physical science unit will be taken to the board for approval in September. Once the curriculum has been approved, we will put in pace the orders for the unit. Each building has the option of receiving the physical science unit either third or fourth quarter.
In preparation for our the life science unit, the Curriculum and Instruction Department is offering several learning opportunities. Please refer to our summer learning event calendar for dates, location, and training details.
One great aspect of the MySci resource is all instructor materials are online! This means you can begin accessing information right now in preparation for next year. To access your instructional materials, simply go to myscipartners.com , locate our district, enter your email and MySci password: foxCsix!
When exploring the site you may notice in some grade levels there is more than one life science unit available. The following lists the specific curriculum units for each grade level:
Kindergarten Life Science: Introduction to Plants and Animals
First Grade Life Science: Birds, Beaks, and Babies
Second Grade Life Science: Helping Seeds Travel
Third Grade Life Science: Change Over Time
Fourth Grade Life Science: Structure, Function, and Survival
Fifth Grade Life Science: From Sun to Food

DeCluttering Google Style
As we all begin to wrap up the school year and clean our desks, throw away old files, and weed hard copy resources, it is important to organize our digital lives so that we can begin next school year with both a clean classroom and a clean Google account. Below are a few tips for organizing your main Google tools.
Google Drive
- Do a quick search in Google Drive for "Untitled" to find all of the documents you started but never finished. Move all of them to the trash.
Gmail
Get to know the Archive button in your Gmail. It will hide messages that you don't want to see cluttering up your inbox, but it will save them for you to find if you ever need them in the future.
- Delete all of the marketing and promotional emails you ignored all year.
- Archive any messages that you took action on. To find an archived message, search for the sender, subject, or topic of the email in the Gmail search bar.
Google Classroom
- Return all student work.
- Archive all 2018-2019 classes
Google Calendar
Each time you create a new class in Google Classroom, Google automatically creates a calendar in Google Calendar to go along with that class. If you are creating classes every year, that can add up to a lot of calendars! You can quickly remove these calendars from your Google Calendar list by hovering your mouse over the calendar name on the left side of your screen, then clicking the X that appears.
Taking a few minutes to declutter your digital life will make it easier to file the files, messages, and calendars that you really need the next time you dive into Google tools.
