Letter to the Parents

Dear Parents,

I am very pleased to see you all at the Parents-Teachers conference last week. I am very fortunate for all of the cooperation and support you have provided in ensuring that your child has the best learning experience possible.

As I have mentioned during the conference, starting next Tuesday, October 1, 2013, my class will be working on Fairy Tale themed lessons, This includes that your child will be learning different types of fairy tale stories every day until the end of the month. For this month, homework assignments are almost daily but are not due until the end of the week. I am asking for your help to work with your children during the week to make sure assignments are being done. I will provide weekly schedule for your child to take home so you have some ideas on what we are learning in class for the week. I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for your child's success in school. If you have any questions or concern, my contact information can be found below this newsletter.

Last month, we have went over shapes such as circle, square, rectangle, and triangle. The students were able to recognize different types of shapes. For this month, students are going to be learning about sizes. By the end of this month students should be able to determine whether an item is big or small. They will be able to compare and contrast whether an item are the same or different based on sizes.

This month our class will be planting bean sprouts and monitoring it's growth. Students will be learning about gardening and what it takes for a bean sprout to grow.

This month our class will be reading Fairy Tale stories such as Cinderella, Paper bag princess, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and more. Every 1-2 days we will be reading a new fairy tale. Students will be able to determine stories that have words that rhyme. By the 3rd week of October, your child will pick their favorite fairy tale character for our October project. For this month's project, I ask that you work with your child to create a costume of their favorite fairy tale character.

For this month, your child will be creating and design their own magic wand. They are also going to create a coat of arms based on their favorite Fairy Tale story. The student should be able to determine the sequence of their favorite fairy tale story.

Thursday, Oct. 31st, 12:30pm

During this day, the Pre-K and Kindergarten students will be attending a parade wearing their favorite fairy tale character in school. Students will be able to wear the fairy tale costume that they have worked on at home. Pictures will be taken during the parade and will be posted in our school website. If you have any further questions about the Fairy Tale Costume Parade please feel free to contact me.
