WELCOME to Coronado 2023-24!
Back-to-School 🍎 August 2023
Welcome Letter from Mr. Piccininni
Cougars:
As we embark on another year together, I challenge everyone to remember the things that have come to define Coronado High School, over time, as one of the finest high schools anywhere. Coronado’s traditions extend beyond normal school functions, more often our core characteristics are aligned with the culture of achievement and success. Students and families routinely perform at the highest levels, when the stakes are greatest, despite obstacles or restrictions. With the ongoing challenges facing us now, and into the foreseeable future, we will need to embody this more than ever. I have no doubt we will be at our finest, across all disciplines, creating perhaps one of our best years yet. While it will be challenging, I know we will overcome, persevere, and proceed forward without hesitation. It’s proven over the years to be the only way our students know how to go… forward.
Every year I share the thoughts below as statements that set the tone. When I re-read them, especially within the context of the times, they seem to be timeless and more appropriate than ever….
- When you’re not here we miss you. While it may not be perfect, our family is our family, which we love and protect above all else. When you’re gone, it’s just not the same.
- I understand the feeling of being run down, tired, and beaten up that we all feel at times. You carry that weight with exceptional grace, dignity, and professionalism. When times are toughest, we are always at our best.
- I admire our students and faculty and am so unbelievably proud of the work you do… often in the face of great challenges. There is no question in my mind that no group does it better anywhere.
- This upcoming year, we will be more prepared, more driven, and more capable than ever. We constantly continue to grow academically, athletically, and in our co-curricular adventures. Each of us contributes individually in our way… and accordingly, our group gets stronger.
I’m so proud to be a part of Coronado. I hope each of you loves our school as much as I do.
Our school and students continue to lead the way and set the standard for Clark County. We strive, every year, to be even better and more focused on achieving, not on our competitors. As we focus on ourselves, and on the standards we set, we will define our achievement in every way and continue to set the bar for others to chase. This year, as we have in the past, we will raise that bar.
Cougars… together,
Mr. Piccininni
