National PTA Reflections Art Contest
National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.
Walk, Bike or Roll Day - October 18, 2023
Red Ribbon Week
October 23 - October 27
Each year, TVUSD schools participate in Red Ribbon Week. This year, the campaign theme is, "Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free.™" Submitted by Danielle Helm, a Youth Service Coordinator from Russell County Middle School in Russell Springs, Kentucky. This year’s theme is a reminder that everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free!
Our Student Council will meet to plan 5 different spirit days to encompass the theme, so be on the lookout for that information. Students will participate in a schoolwide art project that all students will create to be displayed at a later date. PTA will have another "Chalk the Walk" event on Wednesday, October 25th, before school.
Trunk or Treat
Friday, October 27, 2023 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
PTA is hosting their annual Trunk or Treat in the school parking lot. They are collecting candy and small prizes all month. Ms. Russi and Mrs. Frasher have offered extra recess with the principals to the class that collects the most. Please drop off your items in the front office with the teacher's name to be entered! If you would like to host a trunk, please complete the application form and return it to the front office. We really need your help with this as currently we have ONE trunk signed up. Let's make this a fun and successful event for our TLES community!
