Library News
November 2019
Celebrations in the Library.
I always think of December as a busy time of year for festivities, but autumn brings its fair share of fun too. We have displays up in the library to celebrate, Diwalli, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Harvest. A diverse range of events but each one is precious to our children. Come and take a look at the displays we have for you this autumn, and you might just find a book that resonates with you too.
Happy Diwali to our friends who are celebrating!
On Tuesday 22nd November we had another author visit. This time it was Petr Horacek visiting the Year 2 children. He ran a fantastic workshop that took us on the journey of creating stories and creating illustrations. The year 2 children were enthralled by his tall tales and his calm demeanour. They listened to intently to what he was saying that when it was their turn to create illustrations they just didn't want to stop. The workshop culminated int he creation of a beautiful mural that is currently in the library waiting to be hung. A wonderful souvenir of a morning spent in a warm cocoon of creativity.
This years finalists for the Golden Dragon Book Awards have been announced and we are working our way through them. Voting will take place around Feb/Mar 2020. To be eligible to vote children must have read at least two books in each of the categories that they want to vote in.
The book choices are great and we're hoping our children will read through all 5 in their category. We have multiple copies available in the library so there are no excuses!
