Permenter Longhorn Check-In
Week of February 6 - February 10, 2023
A Note from the Principal:
I hope everyone was able to keep safe and warm while we were out due to inclement weather. I have an even greater hope that our scholars are returning refreshed with a renewed commitment to learning. We have much work to do. We need your help to maintain their focus on academics. Please continue to support our efforts to impact student achievement, student safety and student social and emotional well being.
A few reminders and announcements:
- Our Permenter Speak Up Session originally scheduled for January 31st was postponed due to the weather. Information will be shared regarding the new date as soon as it is made available.
- This week is National School Counseling Week and is a great time to show our appreciation for the huge role school counselors play in developing a healthy school environment. We are very fortunate to have Ms. Melinda Miller and are thankful for her positive impact on our campus.
- Current 7th grade scholars will begin their course selections Thursday and Friday of this week. The date for 6th grade will be announced as it will change due to the inclement weather days.
- For all questions regarding course selections, please email counselor Ms. Miller.
- JROTC from Cedar Hill High School will be on campus all of Wednesday, February 8th to discuss the comprehensive high school's JROTC program.
- Our spring parent conferences will be completely virtual or over the telephone. There will be no conferences in person.
- Conference dates are the evening of Thursday, February 16th and the Friday, February 17th from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
- Teachers will be making their appointment times available soon and slots are expected to fill up quickly. If you are not able to have an appointment on the evening of February 16th or the morning of February 17th, you can request an appointment outside of those days during the teachers' conference period.
- All parents have been contacted on their scholars' reading and math final exam performance. If you have questions on intervention opportunities for your scholar, please contact your scholar's teachers.
- Teachers have made arrangements for extended day learning opportunities in the mornings and after school and many scholars are not attending despite the lack of academic growth needed. Please be sure your scholar is attending these sessions and partner with us to get them where they need to be academically.
- An email was sent to all parents and scholars on 1/03/2023 that provided the recording of the digital town hall meeting as well as new practices beginning the first day of the spring semester. Please let me know if you did not receive this important email with the recording of the meeting and I will resend it to you.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we continue to prepare our scholars for their very best.

- Continue to be mindful that there is no on-campus supervision before 8:15 AM or after 4:45 PM. Please ensure your scholar is not on campus outside of those time frames in the best interest of their safety.
A Note from CHHS Athletics:
Dear Scholars and Parents:
We want to ensure all scholars have the opportunity to take part in all events across the district. To ensure scholars are admitted into all athletic events at Cedar Hill High School, all scholars must present a non-torn digital ticket and their current school ID at the student gate. Additionally, all elementary and middle school scholars must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the entirety of the game. These scholars will enter through the general admission gate. All scholars are welcome to attend and we hope they come to support all of our Longhorn scholar athletes!
