Lunch anytime you need it!
Please complete the free/reduced-price meal application!
Although school meals are now free to all students, the application for free and reduced-price meals is still very important. School funding depends in part on the number of students at our school who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. With all students now eating for free, fewer families are completing the application and our school is at risk of losing much-needed educational funds. Plus, students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may also qualify for discounts on bus transportation, before and after school care, and home internet!
Income qualifications change annually, so a new application is needed every school year. For school year 2023-2024, children from a family of four are eligible if the total gross (pre-tax) household income is less than $4,625 per month, or less than $55,500 per year. Household income information is confidential and applying online is quick and easy. Apply online at MySchoolApps.com, or pick up a paper application in the school office.
SENIORS - START PREPARING TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID NOW!
As you know, the Federal Student Aid department has announced that the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and CADAA (California Dream Act Application) applications will be delayed to December 2023, without a definite release date. While we wait for the applications to open, I want you to start preparing to apply for financial aid. The Prepare to Apply for Financial Aid Flyer has detailed information on what you can be doing now to prepare. It also tells you which application you will be completing. You will either complete the FAFSA or the CADAA, not both.
AVID Tutors
Do you know a college student who is looking for a part time job that fits around their school schedule? Do they enjoy helping others reach their potential? If so, they are invited to apply to be an AVID tutor and work with our Wolverines. Pay is $16.54/hour. For more information or to apply CLICK HERE.

STUDENT VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY
STUDENT CONFERENCE APPLICATION
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project (APYLP) is pleased to announce that applications for the 32nd Annual Leadership Conference for high school students are now available and being accepted. Open to all current 11th and 12th grade California high school students, the four-day conference will take place March 21 – March 24, 2024. Up to fifty (50) students will be chosen to participate.
This year, the APYLP conference will be held in-person all 4 days in Sacramento, CA. All conference costs are covered for accepted applicants. The deadline to apply is December 2, 2023, no exceptions.
Founded in 1990 to build new foundations for effective public service, community leadership, and multicultural citizenship; the APYLP is a volunteer-run, non-profit, non-partisan organization that is supported by the time and money of a broad range of individual donors, corporations, and university sponsors. Students will experience a unique program designed to educate and nurture a new generation of community and political leaders. Alumni are successful in many fields including elected office, policymaking, law, education, medicine, and many other professions.
Last year, students heard from some of California’s most talented leaders. They received an in-depth look into the legislative process during the mock legislative session and through conversations with elected officials, lobbyists and other professionals. All this in addition to the many insightful workshops and discussions facilitated by legislative staff and community leaders.
Students from all experiences and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Because leadership comes in many forms and is expressed in many ways, GPA and test scores are not part of our application review process. The simple four-page application can be downloaded at our website www.apylp.org.
Applications may be downloaded at our website and emailed back to us or be printed out and mailed.
All high school juniors and seniors in California, especially those from our state’s diverse Asian and Pacific Islander Communities, are invited to join more than 1,000 alumni leaders in the Golden State.
Please share with students direct them to www.apylp.net

UNITY DAYS:
Westview ASB is proud to host our annual Unity Days on Monday, December 4 and Tuesday, December 5. This program is designed with one simple statement in mind: It’s hard to hate somebody when you know their story. The program is for all of our Sophomores and they will be broken into groups according to last name. A – L will be Monday and M – Z will be on Tuesday. The program for both days will be during periods 1 and 2 and then students will be able to get lunch and go to periods 3 and 4.
DODGEBALL:
‘tis the season. We are extending the dodgeball applications until Wednesday, December 6. Our annual dodgeball tournament will begin on Monday, December 11. Applications can be found in our ASB Instagram bio.
The PTSA is excited to announce a new initiative designed to support the work of our school community’s student-run clubs. For the 2023-2024 school year, we will be making one-time grants of up to $150 available to up to 40 clubs.
To apply for one of these grants, a designated club officer must submit the following:
1) Name of Club and Officers
2) Number of Active Members
3) Club Purpose/Mission Statement
4) A 250-word description or less of how the club benefits the Westview community and how the funds will be utilized to help the club with its mission.
This is meant to be an accessible – not onerous – process! Uses for funds could include tournament, meet, or other entrance fees, travel costs, supplies (including food if it’s an integral part of bringing people together!), or other costs incurred in running the club to the benefit of the Westview community.
We will accept grant requests on a rolling basis, but only one request per club per year. Please email your request to Kelly Farrell at Westviewptsaclubs@gmail.com. Grant recipients will be notified within two weeks of their application being received. Club officers will need to submit a receipt for approved expenditures and will be reimbursed via check from the PTSA, unless an alternative method is arranged prior to expenditure.
