Spring Spruce Up

Help Union celebrate Earth Day at the Spring Spruce Up on Sunday April 24th from 1-3pm. We would love for you and your family to join us as we prepare Union's grounds for Spring planting. No green thumb required!!

PTO Budget

Wondering how PTO generously supports our amazing Union Stars? The budget is reviewed at each PTO meeting- join us on April 13 at 7 pm to find out more about the budget if you have questions.


March 2016 PTO budget update:

Soiree raised over $20,000! (will discuss at 4/13 meeting how the money will be used- please join us!)


Spotlight night Union PTO funded this fabulous event with encumbered funds and a generous business grant we received from a national company. Cost: approx $12 per student


March PTO Purchases:

* School-wide tennis unit for PE (4 classes for each classroom K-4): $2775

* Benjamin Harrision speaker-4th grade: $750

* Transportation to middle school (4th grade trip): $100

* Student led grants- $750

  • Transportation for all 1st grade classes to Zion Nature Center
  • Solar lights for flag (4th grade grant)
  • specific books & magazines requested for classroom libraries: all grades
  • wobble chairs: 2nd grade

* Teacher requested spring grants- $2200

  • math fluency kits, activities, etc.: all grade levels
  • tubano drums: music grades 1-4
  • reading/writing center: K
  • speech book series: 1st
  • classroom library books: 1st
  • science teacher's guides: 3rd & 4th

You can send the box tops in a plastic baggie or taped to a box top sheet (found in the front office) ***PLEASE*** be sure to write your teacher’s name so they can get the credit. DAD’S CLUB - Calling all Dads!!! Join us the first Tuesday of every month for our monthly meeting. Check out our calendar on the Dad’s Club webpage and our FaceBook page for Union Elementary Dads Club.


PreSchool Dads Club Breakfast

Do you love the smell of bacon in the morning? Preschool families, come join the us at 8:30 on April 20th for our last Dads Club breakfast of the 2015-2016 school year. This is a great opportunity to spend time with your child and also learn what Dads Club is all about! Breakfast is provided through parent donations and prepared by volunteers. 17th Dads Club Golf Outing

Please see the attached entry form for the 17th Dads Club Golf Outing which is taking place at 4PM on May 15th (rain date is May 22nd) at Zionsville Golf Course. This event was not held last year so we are making changes to increase awareness, showcase the game of golf, and promote general physical activity through products of all sports.

Please note the following enhancements:

- New Zionsville Golf Course location to promote more Zionsville community interaction

- New corporate sponsorship from Wilson Sporting Goods

- Continued support from Callaway Golf

- A new food sponsor, Zoey’s Pizzeria which has committed full support of food for the event

- A prize raffle that will include new prizes promoting all sports (baseball, basketball, football, tennis, volleyball, and golf)

Players

- This is a family friendly event promoting the game of golf and allowing all people to be introduced to the game

- 4-person scramble with great prizes

- The opportunity to spend time with your family while supporting the Zionsville community

- $25/player which is the best value in the Indy area

Sponsors

- We are seeking a major beverage (non-alcoholic) sponsor, $250

- Seeking additional $100 sponsors (corporate or private) which can be utilized by purchasing sporting goods items (baseball, basketball, football, tennis, volleyball, and golf)

- Seeking sponsors that are willing to contribute goods or services to the prize raffle

Volunteers

- Seeking a beverage cart driver that can deliver drinks to all of the players

- Seeking 2 volunteers to assist in player registration

- Seeking volunteers to assist in event setup and closure

Kindergarten Round Up April 12th, 2016

Please help us get the word out! If you have any neighbors, family, or friends with a child who is turning five year old by August 1st, 2016, please direct them to our district website. Registration for Kindergarten Round Up is underway!

You will have to create an account and pre-register for an appointment time.

All incoming kindergarten parents must complete pre-registration and schedule an

appointment prior to your round-up date.

Student Council Update

‘60s Spirit Day Announcement

The Swinging ‘60s are back! Our next Spirit day is on Friday, April 15th. The ‘60s fashion trend is coming back baby and we have decided to bring the trend to Union Elementary! Please dress in paisley prints, bell-bottom jeans, tie-dye shirts, tunics, skirts/dresses, headbands, fringe shirts, and any bright colors. Also, we are asking for quarter donations to go towards Relay For Life! We can’t wait to see the groovy style from our student body! Thank you for showing school spirit.

Pet Supply Drive

Brownie Troop 742 along with the support of Student Council will be collecting pet supplies and other needed items to benefit the Humane Society of Indianapolis. Items needed include pet food, nylon leashes, soft training treats, cleaning supplies, office supplies, tall kitchen garbage bags and dawn dish soap. Collection bins will be near the cafeteria and front office from April 7-14. A more complete list of needed items will be sent home in your child’s folder.

Eagle Rec Opportunities

Summer Fun with Sorgen and Dunn:
Are your kids saying they are bored and it’s only the middle of June? Send them to Summer Fun with Sorgen and Dunn, where they will be given opportunities to learn and have fun through engaging, hands-on experiences. The class will include arts and crafts, fun fitness activities, science experiments, games, writing and more. Two experienced Union Elementary Kindergarten teachers will lead this class. Join in on the fun with Mrs. Sorgen and Miss Dunn! June 20th-24th from 9AM-11AM at PVUE. Open to incoming 1st - 3rd Graders (Limit of 30 participants). Cost: $131
