Walk this Way Wednesday - Healthy Minds Program through PTSA

The PTSA is continuing to focus on health and wellness this year, and that includes health and wellness for parens, too!. Please join us Wednesday, March 15th for our first "Walk This Way Wednesday." This is an opportunity for parents to come together and simply take a walk. We all have a lot on our plates, so this is a chance to take a break, enjoy the fresh air and connect with other MVHS parents. We will be meeting at 8:45 a.m. outside the front office.

Periodic "Tardy Sweeps" to Encourage Student Timeliness

Over the last several weeks, we have noticed a marked increase in students arriving tardy to class, particularly for class periods 2, 3, and 4. In an effort to re-calibrate our schoolwide expectation that students arrive to every class on time and ready to learn, we will be conducting periodic tardy sweeps during the school day. Students who are late to a given class during a tardy sweep will be assigned Friday School detention. We believe that timeliness is a basic value and expectation in every workplace environment, and we want to ensure we are preparing students to successful in the future.

As a staff, we at Mission Vista want to create meaningful learning experiences in every class, every day, and out 4x4 block schedule allows Timberwolves to explore pathways of learning that speak to their strengths and interests. Currently, we have 39 "prescribed" pathways of learning and an infinite number of possibilities for students to mix and match courses during their time at Mission Vista. Our goal: To make every student aware of every course we offer, and to encourage them to follow pathways (or create their own!) that speak to who they are, what they like, and what they want to do after high school.

As students are completing academic plans for next year, we encourage them to explore the pathways options available to them. Students -- be sure to check out our pathways webpage to find more about all courses of study available at MVHS, or be sure to ask a teacher, a friend, an administrator, or a counselor about the pathway possibilities that exist. We want your course selections to be intentional, and we want the course selections to gear you toward your post-secondary aspirations.

For more information about our pathways, please visit the Pathways tab of our website.
