Mental Health Week Focus at Southview
Mindful Monday - Mindfulness is a way of being and thinking. When we are mindful, we focus our attention on what is happening in our body, our mind and in our environment in the moment. With mindfulness, we live in the present and focus on what is happening right now.
Togetherness Tuesday – Being kind to others can improve a person’s self-esteem, happiness, sense of belonging, and overall mental health. Make sure that you say hello to people today, and don’t forget to smile. You could change someone’s day just by making him or her feel noticed.
Wellness Wednesday - The importance of self-care is vital to good mental health and well-being. Proper nutrition, hydration, sleep, and exercise are key to one’s self-care. When you take care of yourself, you are also able to take care of others.
Talk About It Thursday – When we can share our emotions about a specific event with other people we help them understand who we are, how we feel and care about things, and how we respond to the world around us. By talking about our emotions, we build empathy in others and ourselves. Learning how other people feel makes each of us know it’s okay to not feel good all the time!
Fit Friday – Being physically active is an important way to support our well-being and manage stress and mental health challenges. Being active improves sleep, enhances confidence, builds social skills, and it’s fun! Make sure to get out outside today and get moving.
Have a Great Week!
