PUMPKIN SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE
Autumn is the season of harvests, festivals, pumpkins, winter preparations, and of course, our very own Astros in the World Series!! Whew! We are looking forward to the many exciting events and fun ahead!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Early Excellence is partnering with Tomball High School to provide a little trick-or-treating fun. Our CTE Education Pathways program has organized the event scheduled for October 31.
This activity is designed to provide an opportunity to learn and practice some good life skills. Through trick-or-treating, our kiddos will connect with people face-to-face and have the chance to practice reading social cues, attempt patience, regulate emotions, boost language reciprocity, and remember manners.
Early Excellence Academy students will be escorted to Tomball High School to visit approximately nine offices, including the library, on the first floor of THS during the first four class periods. CTE students will support this activity.
In order for your child to participate in Trick-or-Treating, please complete the consent form found HERE.

FALL FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PROJECT
Storybook Pumpkins
EEA is growing a storybook pumpkin patch, and we need your help! Decorate a pumpkin to look like one of your family's favorite book characters, and bring it to EEA to plant in our Storybook Pumpkin Patch!
What is a storybook pumpkin?
Think of your family's favorite book and design your pumpkin based on your favorite character from that book.
Purchase a pumpkin that is no larger in size than a basketball.
Gather your decorating supplies. Acrylic paints or permanent markers work best. Watercolors tend to run, and spray paint will gradually dissolve the pumpkin. Other options include adding materials such as yarn, buttons, wiggly eyes, etc.
Decorate your pumpkin without carving, cutting, or poking holes in it. Carved pumpkins will not be accepted.
Click here to print out the entry form HERE. All entries must have the entry form.
Bring your pumpkin and entry page to EEA between Monday, October 28th and Wednesday, October 30.
Pumpkins are to be taken home at the end of school on Friday, November 8th.
Participation is completely voluntary.
Conferences
Parents may request a conference with a teacher if they would like to discuss their child’s progress. Parents must call the Academy to schedule a time that does not restrict the learning of other students.
Teachers will reach out to parents to schedule a conference at any time they feel there is a need.
REMINDERS
SNACKS
At EEA, we are growing minds and bodies!
Please remember that each child needs to bring two nutritious, ready to serve snacks from home each day. One for the morning and one in the afternoon. Snacks should not require cutlery, cutting or reheating.
Balanced snacks help to keep our kiddos full longer as they spend a lot of energy exploring their environment. Great snack choices include one item of produce (veggie or fruit) and one item of either a fat, protein, or whole grain cereals or breads. (American Association of Pediatrics).
Some excellent snack ideas are:
- sandwich cubes
- cheese and crackers with Applesauce squeeze pouch
- Plain low-sugar cereal (Mini Wheats, Cheerios, Kix) and fruit
CHANGE OF CLOTHES
-Two complete changes of clothes, including socks, pants, shirts, and underwear
-Morning and afternoon snacks
-Nap time materials
-Reusable water cup
For actively potty training students:
-Wipes
-Pull Ups or training underwear
These items should be restocked on a weekly basis.
LUNCH COUNTS
The staff at THS needs our lunch count by 9:15, so parents please let your teacher know whether or not a lunch will be needed if your child is coming in late.
Coffee in the Cafe
Coffee in the Cafe is held each Friday from 3:30 pm to 4:45 in our center's cafeteria. If you are unable to enjoy a cup of coffee with us, please leave us an "EspressNote." EspressNotes can be completed at any time and reviewed by staff on Fridays.
We will keep the coffee pot full for you!
