Weekly Homework

Your child's homeroom teacher will send homework via e-mail in the weekly newsletter. The homework will also be on the 3rd Grade website.

Homework will be due every Thursday. Students do not have to print out the homework - they can simply turn in their notebook paper with the required math and reading portions. An example of he homework can also be found on the 3rd Grade Website.

Science CBA

On Wednesday, December 17th, your child will take their 3rd Science CBA. We encourage your child to review any learned concepts using STEMscopes and their science journal.

Topics Covered for the CBA:

  • Soil and Weathering
  • Rapid Changes to the Earth's Surface
  • Earth's Landforms
  • Natural Resources and Conservation of Resources

Math CBA

On Thursday, December 18th, your child will take their 2nd Math CBA. We encourage your child to review any learned concepts with their math journal and from previous problem solving questions.

The following topics will be covered through problem solving:

  • Multiplication (up to 2 Digit by 1 Digit)
  • Division within 100
  • Finding the Area of a Rectangular/Square Figures
  • Finding the Area of Composite Figures
  • Table Relationships
  • Even/Odd Numbers

Presents for Pets - Reuse Pet Items Drive! (Nov 17 - Dec 19th)

Nichols Elementary is collecting gently used pet items for donations to the Frisco Humane Society. Bins are located outside each POD. Flyers with more information will be in your child’s Thursday Folder next week!

Welcome to the Six Flags Read to Succeed Six Hour Reading Club!

Nichols is participating in an exciting program that encourages students in grades K through 6 to read for fun. Read to Succeed is a free program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Parks.

Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before the school’s deadline noted below is eligible for a free admission ticket valid at one participating Six Flags Theme Parks.

Students will develop a greater appreciation for books when they see that you think reading is important too. You are sure to have fun as you investigate the world of reading together!

All forms are due by Friday, February 20!


Below you will find the link to order a yearbook for your child, and you will not need to input a customer number. You will select the state, city and the school name to begin ordering. After purchasing you will receive an email notification confirming your purchase. Please save this for your records. Yearbooks will not be distributed until the end of the school year.
