Hawk Happenings

News from the Holy Rosary/Juan Diego Community

Message from the Principal: Sept. 28th

Happy Wednesday!

We are having a great start to the school year. Thanks to all the parents who came to Back to School Night. We were able to talk about some of our big successes: our lead teachers returning from last year to provide consistency for the kids; our Parent Service Club taking on another year of fundraising and community building events; after school orchestra and drama club; band, music, and PE classes for all students in PK through 8th grade, and new technology classes, for kindergarten through 8th grade. Did I also mention the new construction...especially those fantastic new bathrooms for the kids?! All of this and we have reached an enrollment of 200 students for the first time in almost a decade! We are doing an amazing job creating a wonderful atmosphere where kids are growing and thriving academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. All of this would not be possible without the support of families and supporters like you. So, thank you. Join in with all of us as we celebrate a vibrant future and a wonderful start to the year!

Have a wonderful week!

Blessings,

Katie Dempsey

Principal

From the Development Desk!

The Annual Fund Appeal is underway! Letters went out to families in last weeks communication envelopes. We have also mailed letters to Holy Rosary parishioners, alumni, and Holy Rosary School supporters. This year’s goal is $100,000! The funds raised support curriculum and materials, along with funding teacher’s salaries. No donation is too small. You can choose to make a one time donation or you can pledge a monthly amount. Consider giving $25 a month for ten months which provides a total donation of $250. We are hoping for 100% support from our school families and staff at amounts appropriate to their individual abilities.

To donate please see the following secure link on our website: https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/o5kPfZnwU-9YPZxE8gatew

Please choose the drop down for Annual Appeal. All donations are tax deductible. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Thank you to the following Holy Rosary School families that have donated to this year's appeal:

Dr. Bridget Yaden & Jeff Smith
Casey & Sarah McKinney

Just remember that when you shop, you need to go to smile.amazon.com, versus the main amazon page. We are listed under Academia Juan Diego. This ensures that your purchases are eligible for donation.

Halloween Carnival

Halloween Carnival is right around the corner! This is a fun family event held every year so we can come together as a community and play games, earn prizes, and get some wear out of our children’s costumes! This year it will be held on Sunday, October 23rd, from 1-3pm in the school cafeteria.

The Carnival is also a great way to earn some volunteer hours while you meet and socialize with other parents, and ensure the kids have a great time. There are many opportunities to volunteer:

o Participate in the planning meetings and help out along the way;

o Set-up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday prior to the event;

o Take-down and clean-up on Sunday immediately after the event;

o Assisting in the kitchen to prepare and serve food and drinks;

o Working one of the many booths during the event (available in 30-minute shifts); and,

o Other (I will post new opportunities as they arise).

Please email mariacor2@yahoo.com with your availability and area of interest for earning some volunteer hours leading up to, or during, the event.

The first planning meeting is this Friday, 9/30, at 4pm, in Ms. Dempsey’s office. I expect to finalize the games and assign tasks to volunteers at this meeting, so please come and help us make this a great Halloween Carnival!
