School Counseling

Monthly update for staff and families - September

Start the year Respectfully!

IT HAS BEEN A GREAT START TO THE SCHOOL YEAR HERE AT JONES! OUR CHARACTER TRAIT FOR AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER WAS RESPECT. Each month a different character trait will be featured. For the month of September I visited each class for a lesson on Respect and/or read a short story and lead a discussion on Respect and what it means to be respectful in our school, homes, and community. Let's reinforce our school-wide CUBS rules and ask your student(s) what the "B" stands for (Be Respectful!)

C - Choose to be responsible

U - Use kind words and actions

B - Be respectful

S - Stay safe

Welcome Ms. Kelly Jean

Another new face here at Jones is Kelly Jean Tucker. She is a school counseling master's student at Appalachian State University. During the fall semester, she will be here once a week to gain experience in school counseling under the supervision of Rachel Herrick.

In the past, Kelly Jean has worked in a residential facility for children and teens with behavioral and emotional difficulties and has worked with children and adults with developmental disabilities. She is from Atlanta, GA and loves the beauty the mountains have to offer! She is very excited to work with the students, teachers, and staff here at Jones.
