The Week's Notes
ADVENT AT MORNING GATHERING: Each morning during this Advent season, we will have a special advent prayer and light our Advent wreath. We will conclude each Morning Gathering with the entire school singing 'O'Come O'Come Emmanuel' . I will have copies of the hymn for you at Morning Gathering tomorrow morning. Please bring these back with your for your class each morning.
DIOCESAN STANDARDS AND CURRICULUM: ELA/READING, MATH, SOCIAL STUDIES, AND SCIENCE standards and curriculum are on the S drive. Please feel free to copy these to your hard drive, usb, googledrive account, or print them out for your use. Let me know, or ask a colleague, if you have trouble finding the S drive.
SUBSTITUTE LIST: When calling for a substitute please follow the order on the sub sheet. The order is as follows: Sue Wigington, Doug Neumann, Walt Whitmyer, Ellen Barber, then Beth Shumaker.
STAFF HANDBOOK: Please take a look over your staff handbook; make sure you are meeting requirements including presentations of learning and newsletters, etc. There is a sign-off sheet in your mailboxes that you have read, reviewed, and understand the expectations as they relate to the handbook. Please turn these back into my mailbox by Friday, December 5th.
SPELLING BEE: Mrs. Fruits is in charge of the spelling bee for our school this year. In your mail boxes is the list of spelling bee words. First through fifth please learn and review these words and host your own spelling bee in your classrooms. Please do this by January 15th. If you could email the name of the winner to Mrs. Fruits, she will make a certificate that will be given during morning gathering that week of January 15th. If you would like more help like tests to help study just let me know. 6th through 8th will also be doing their own spelling bee in their classrooms but the winners from each class (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and maybe 5th) will be participating in a school spelling bee that we will host. 5th and 4th grade winning classroom learners will be invited to participate in the all-school spelling bee.We will have the rest of the school attend and watch the all-school Spelling Bee. One winner from middle school will be chosen to attend the Summit Spelling Bee!
SECOND QUARTER PROGRESS REPORTS: Progress reports will be mailed home beginning tomorrow.
EDLINE: The 2nd quarter expectation is that you are updating Edline on a weekly basis. The expectation, for parents, is that they are able to log on and see a current grade in the child's class without having to communicate with you. Please make sure you are meeting this expectation.
STAFF SERVICE OPPORTUNITY! UNITED WAY Our December Staff meeting will open with a message from United Way. All employees are asked to attend for a 10 minute presentation. Please mark your calendars.
MASS PARTICIPATION: Please practice the responses for the mass and expect to hear them during mass. I notice some learners (and even some teachers!!!) not participating at all. Please be sure you are expecting their best!
