Adaptations
Arms- each arm has around 280 suckers, they're used for tasting and feeding the octopus, octopuses are very well known for being picky eaters.
Suckers- they have thousands of receptors including taste.
3 hearts- 2 hearts work for the hills and one for the rest of the body.
Octopus Mating
Octopuses have a tube in one of their arms that they insert into a females cavity and pumps semen into it. The male then goes off and dies in the months after. Females lay the eggs and then shoot the sperm all over it. She can lay thousands of eggs. She dies a month or two after the eggs hatch, which can take between 2 and 10 months between the different octopus species.
They use suckers to get their food, they're back two tentacles act as legs, they can jet propel themselves through water, they live on ocean floors, small species live in trash such as bottles.
Their relatives are cuddle fish and most other Cephalopods. Ancestor- In 2010 they found a very badly preserved cephalopod that had 2 tentacles no longer than 3 inches each. scientist believe this could be a octopus ancestor.
*All octopuses are venomous but only one ( blue-ringed octopus) is harmful to humans.
