Welcome 2020!
January is here! Time to snuggle in and read!!
The students had a good time in December making homemade ornaments for the library tree. We had snow globes, and unicorns. We had minions and s’mores. There was glitter and sparkle everywhere! The tree was a true masterpiece when it was glowing in the library. It’s fun to make those memories.
The White Elephant sale was a huge success. We hope you enjoyed the treasures your children selected for you. It was so fun to hear the students tell me who they were buying for and how excited they were to give it to you. We have started collecting gently used items for next years’ sale. Keep us in mind when you are cleaning out your closets and shelves. You never know what - you may have the perfect treasure for someone!
New Years is a time to make resolutions. One of mine is to open the library for the adult community. I want to make it an adventure for you to come in and enjoy our library. So, I have a few topics that we are going to tackle. First – on January 14, we are going to set up a Makerspace for the adults – show you what kids are “playing with” in school and let you play. Trust me. If I can learn/run these things, so can you! We are going to start with Spheros.
Spheros are little robots that you control from an iPad, phone, or tablet. With your fingers, you control whether it goes left or right, goes fast or slow.... The students LOVE these little robots. They may have even asked for one for Christmas. Let us show you what they are like.
On January 14, we are open from after school until 7:30 pm. Yes, there is a girls’ game in the gym, but sneak into the library during half-time, or between games, and see what Spheros are all about! It only takes a few minutes to learn the process, and then we can turn you loose.
On January 24th, we are going to show you how to use 3D pens. Sound like fun? Stop in the library. We will be open until 7:30pm.
You don’t need a library card! Just stop in and have some fun. Sorry – this is only for the adult community – not school aged students.
The end of the quarter is just a week away. If students or adults need a new book, stop in and check one out. Get your reading done. We have some new books in the system ready for you to check out!
Finally, the next book fair starts February 3. This is going to be a fun one!
