About the Reef
The Florida Reef is the third largest barrier reef in the world. It lies a few miles seaward of the Florida Keys, is about 4 miles wide, and extends170 mi from Fowey Rocks. Florida's coral reefs came into existence 5,000 to 7,000 years ago when sea levels rose following the last Ice Age.

There are no special requirements unless you are coming from out of the US.
Snorkeling
A major tourist attraction is the reef. Snorkeling is one of the best experiences because of the endless areas to explore. Snorkeling is very popular among the locals.
Swim with the dolphins
A fun attraction for families, especially the kids, is swimming with dolphins! Petting and swimming with the dolphins is included along with seeing all the tricks they can do.
Safety
There are some areas where no life guards are on duty and safety precautions must be taken. Life vests are suggested for children and those who struggle with swimming.
