Principal's Bulletin
Week 8: October 12-15, 2021
A Message from Mrs. Zagala
Thank you all for another amazing week of learning and fun at Allen Elementary! This week I was able to visit with almost all classes for my October Principal's Read Aloud. The book I chose this month was "Stellaluna" written by Janell Cannon. This is a beautiful story about a young bat that is separated from her mother and the unexpected relationship she builds with a family of birds until she is reunited with her mother. Not only did the students learn a lot about bats from this book, they also made some beautiful connections about friendship and family. I look forward to our November read aloud!
On Friday we also celebrated the Decision of Respect Day. Decision of Respect is an important day celebrated each year across the district. Northside rallied everyone in the district on October 8th to dedicate time to join the promise that we will respect ourselves, others, school and community. Northside dedicated a day during bully prevention month to highlight the importance of treating others with respect and kindness. Here at Allen, we are promoting a safe and respectful environment through campus-wide activities and our counseling program.
Monday is a student holiday and a teacher work day. I hope that you all enjoy your three day weekend and I look forward to seeing all students on time and ready to learn on Tuesday. October 12th.
Thank you for all that you do and we look forward to another amazing week!
Eagles Rock!

Our PTA will use the funds collected to help pay for field trips and special events such as Fiesta, Western Day, Reading Carnival, etc. This year we are encouraging each student to sell at least 10 World’s Finest Chocolate bars; each bar is only $1, for a total of $10. If you would like to help us raise money for our school please sign and return the permission that will be sent home this week. When we receive the signed permission slip we will send home the10 chocolate bars with your child or you can arrange to pick them up. Once you have sold the 10 chocolate bars please turn in the $10 cash. If you would like more chocolate bars please complete another permission slip. Chocolates will not be sent home without a signed permission slip to ensure the child has permission to participate. Please note that any unsold chocolates may not be returned.
