SME COVID Testing Information
SME will have weekly testing starting this Thursday, September 2nd, 2021.
Parents can provide informed consent through two ways:
Register through the online platform: https://home.color.com/covid/sign-up/start?partner=cdph094
Complete the hard copy registration forms in English or Spanish which will be provided for you by the COVID-19 Response Team.
Once you register, you have given consent and your kiddo will be able to test weekly at school.
If a student is in quarantine, then they need to test off-site. They can:
Test with their medical provider
Make an appointment with the PUSD Primary Care Clinic at 351 S. Hudson Ave. by calling 626-396-3600 xt 88180.
Participate in the drive-through clinic on Mondays at 351 S. Hudson Ave. in the south parking lot, enter on Oak Knoll.
At this point, sibling would only need to quarantine if the close contact sibling tests positive or either begin to have COVID related symptoms. Therefore, a contact of a close contact does not need to quarantine.
Parent/family notification will go out to all close contact families as well as to families that are not a close contact but have been outside of 6ft radius of a positive case. The only whole school notification would be if it is related to all children.
Dashboard information for PUSD is updated on Tuesdays and Fridays every week. Please continue to check this information so that you have accurate information when speaking about the amount of cases at SME. Please also keep in mind that the number of students in quarantine is not the same as the number of affirmed positive cases.

Do you have Parent Stress from COVID-19?....help is here
My name is Savannah Sweet and I am a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles. In my experience of working with families this past year, many parents are experiencing an increased amount of stress due to the many challenges associated with COVID-19. For this reason, I am conducting a study to evaluate my work with an online, group-based, psychoeducational, mindful parenting program that I have adapted for parents in the community. Groups will take place for 1.5 hours, once a week, for 6 weeks. During the groups, parents will have an opportunity to learn more about how mindfulness- and compassion-based practices can be used to lower stress while parenting, as well as participate in informal and formal mindfulness practices, group-based reflections, and discussions. Those who participate will also be asked to complete online questionnaires on three different occasions (before, immediately after, and 4 weeks after the program). Parents who have at least one child between the ages of 5 and 12 may be eligible to participate.
Furthermore, if you know of any parents that you think might benefit from these groups, please feel free to share this information with them as well!
Please see the attached flyer for more information about how to find out if you are eligible to participate. Thank you in advance for your interest in this program.
