District Five - Flood Victims Fund
The District Five - Flood Victims Fund has been established by the District Five Foundation to serve students and families impacted by the devastating floods and their aftermath. Contributions can be made online at www.district5foundation.org. Just click the GIVE icon and make the donation in honor of "Flood Victims" or mail your donation to the District Five Foundation at 1020 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo, SC 29063. Every penny contributed will go to support District Five flood victims.
We appreciate the spirit of generosity demonstrated by members of our DFES staff. S. Sazehn (3rd grade teacher) has sustained damage to her home. She and her family are in the process of assessing the damage. Once known she will give us an idea of how we can best support her.
Additionally we know of at least one family that has been impacted. That number may increase once students return. If any family is brought to your attention please share that information with us so that we can determine how to support them.
Thanks for your willingness to take action in support of our school family and local community.
Parent Advisory Cabinet (PAC) Meeting
Tuesday, Oct. 13th, 12-1:30pm
DFES Media Center
Each month Dr. Hefner (superintendent) meets with PTO and S.I.C reps from each school following a board meeting. We were scheduled to host the board meeting this coming Monday...however that meeting has been canceled.
We will host the PAC meeting Tuesday and anticipate visitors to begin arriving by 11:30. Given parking limitations we are asking our faculty and staff members to leave the cafeteria parking open for our visitors. Thanks!
Knowing readers well
On Tuesday, September 15, Dr. Somerall lead PD centered around knowing readers well. The powerpoint was also sent out to home room teachers.
Please come prepared to discuss how you have used Burke data, initial conference data, and book shopping data to organize small groups and bring necessary data with you.
