The Gator Gazette

Gator Greetings
This week there were many fun fall activities that happened at Allisonville. Fourth Grade went to Flat Rock, Kindergarten went to Tuttle Apple Orchards, nature walks happened around the school in Second Grade, and we had a school-wide Gator Gathering outside this afternoon. Fifth Grade enjoyed a writing celebration today to showcase their final narrative pieces and First Grade celebrated wrapping up their mystery reading unit. One special thing that often happens on Fridays is Book Buddy sharing. Classes in our upper grades are paired up with a class in the younger grades, and these two classes come together to read and share their writing pieces or complete a STEM activity. This is a great way for students to showcase what they have been working on and form a friendship with a student in a different grade level.
Bully Safe lessons began this week as well. The state of Indiana requires bullying education for all children to teach about what is bullying and how students can be an advocate for themselves and others. Ms. Williamson, Mr. Tinker, Mrs. Bobb, and I all visited a different grade level this week to share a story and have a class discussion about being part of a safe school where students treat each with kindness and respect. We also discussed the importance of reporting to a trusted adult if something is happening at school. Next week the Student Ambassadors will visit the Peace Learning Center at Eagle Creek Park to learn peer mediation skills that they will bring back to Allisonville as well.
If you participated in the Fall Fundraiser, please plan to pick up your items from the cafeteria on Thursday afternoon between 2:00-6:00 PM. Thanks to everyone that sold items – we surpassed our goal and raised more funds for PTO than last year! PTO is also sponsoring a Dine to Donate at Chipotle on October 4th, so be sure to work that into your dinner plans on Tuesday! On Thursday afternoon, students in grades K & 1 will enjoy a Gator Jam after school. Next Friday, October 7th marks the end of the first quarter. To celebrate, we will have Fall Parties from 1:40-2:10 PM that afternoon. Many thanks to the parents who have signed up to help run these fun parties in classrooms. If you are interested in helping, please contact the PTO. Friday also marks the start of Fall Break with no school the week of October 10th-14th. Be sure to have your students check the Lost and Found for their missing items. Our bin will be emptied over the break.
Have a good weekend Gators!

Staff Spotlight
Hello, I am Mrs. Dzurny, 1st Grade teacher, and I am so excited to be a Gator and part of the Allisonville team! I have eighteen years of experience from IPS where I taught first and second grade, and I was a Reading teacher. In my years at IPS, I discovered a strong passion for teaching Reading, and I love working with students of all ages (but first grade is where I feel the most at home).
I have two boys, Gabriel, who is six and Asher, who is three. My husband and I enjoy going on vacation and playing outside with our boys, but also just relaxing at home. I love to garden, cook, and of course read! I am loving my experience in Washington Township so far and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be an educator in this great district!

Immunizations Information
Indiana law requires that students enrolled in school must be immunized and certain immunization(s) are required for their continued enrollment in school. You are required to provide your student’s school with a current document of your child’s immunizations. Adequate documentation is as follows: documentation from a healthcare provider, an immunization record from another school corporation, an immunization record in the Indiana Immunization Registry (CHIRP), or a printed record from another state registry.
We do not have documentation that your child’s vaccines are current. You will have until October 4, 2022 to provide the school vaccination documentation or complete and submit the attached medical vaccine exemption form signed by a physician or the religious exemption form to be completed each school year. Students who do not have the required immunization(s) or exemption form completed and turned in to their school will not be permitted to remain in school beginning October 19, 2022.
*NOTE: It is not enough to have the correct NUMBER of doses. The doses must also be spaced according to CDC guidelines. If your student needs an additional dose of a vaccine, Skyward is recognizing one or more of the doses administered to be invalid.
Thank you for your assistance with this urgent matter. Please send in the proper documentation to your child’s school. For further information about vaccines, please contact your health care provider or the Marion County Public Health Department at (317) 221-2000.
WTS IU Health School Nurses contact information for sharing immunization documentation
Thank you for your cooperation with this urgent matter.

Dad's Club Annual Bonfire
It's that time of year. The leaves are changing, it's getting cooler, and fall break is just around the corner. This can only mean one thing...it's time for our Annual Dad's Club Bonfire! Join us for an evening of fun on Friday, October 21st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. We'll have a DJ for singing and dancing and food trucks on site for food and treats. See you there!
