Holly Academy News & Views
February 5, 2021
Happy snow day! This has been such an unusual and challenging year for all of us. Prior to today some students had asked me, "Are we going to have to work virtually on snow days?" The general answer to that is, "No". We need to preserve some of those special moments for our Huskies. Even though snow days can cause a disruption to parents' schedules they are priceless to children! Should we have "one off" snow days, they will be days to snuggle up and enjoy a day off. If for some reason we end up having to be out for several days due to bad weather, then we will contact families to assign remote work. So, all Huskies, whether HVA students or F2F students, will take delight in traditional-type snow days unless you hear otherwise. Power of the Pack!

Annual Education Report
As we move toward spring, the time to enroll your 8th grader in high school is approaching. Holly Academy primarily receives enrollment information from Fenton High School and Holly High School. Fenton High School information will be sent today via Skyward to our 8th grade families. I am still waiting to hear back from Holly High.
If you have questions regarding another district, please reach out to them directly or to me. Email any questions to me at email@example.com.
Husky Virtual Academy
As the year continues, we are noticing that some students are not attending their one-on-one meetings with their virtual advisors. It is imperative that your Husky attend their meetings with Mrs. Fairbanks, Mrs. Price, Mrs. Burnell, Mrs. Craven, and Mr. Dufresne. This is a required element of our HVA program in order to ensure your Husky is staying on track.
As you know, many teachers are recording their lessons and posting the videos in their Google Classrooms. Students should be watching the videos in their entirety for instructional purposes.
The next opportunity for HVA students to return to F2F learning will be April 5th. Information will be sent out to parents in early March to change their method of learning, should they choose to do so.
It's great to be a Husky!

In pre-covid times we were attempting to create an annual mother/son event. This typically has been a bowling event, as it is an enjoyable pastime for moms and boys. As bowling alleys are open in Michigan, it would be wonderful to hold a mother/son bowling outing this year. The PTO Board is looking for a parent or two to plan this event. Please contact the PTO at PTO.firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in chairing this event. It's great to be a Husky!
Elections for the PTO Board are held at the April meeting. There will be some turnover of our current Board for the 21/22 school year. Typically, we like prospective candidates to have attended three PTO meetings prior to being nominated for a Board seat. Should you be interested and not meet this requirement, please follow-through by emailing PTO.email@example.com, we do not want to turn away any candidates that have a passion to serve! Power of the Pack!
