Forward Testing in April

Fifth grade will begin Forward Testing right after Spring Break. We first prepare and practice and then take the tests during a two week period - April 1st through April 12th. Please let your child’s teacher know ASAP if you child will be gone at any point during this time period.. We understand that things will come up but if there is something already planned for your child, please let us know so we can make arrangements for your child during testing.

Also, please check with your student to see if they have working earbuds or headphones. There is a listening component to the Forward test, and each student needs to have some type of head phones to complete this part of testing.

Thank you!

Chicken BBQ Class Baskets

This year’s Chicken BBQ fundraiser is right around the corner! As always, each class puts together a “Classroom Basket” for the raffle, comprised of donations from the families of students in the class.

Please consider donating to your child's homeroom basket. Place donations in an envelope marked “CBBQ Donation.” Donations can be sent to school with your student or delivered to the office.

This year's class themes are:

  • Burmeister - Everything Ukulele Basket
  • Carlson - Apple Basket
  • Davis - Target Gift Cards Basket
  • Springer - Sports Basket

Mrs. Edward's Guidance Lesson

This month during classroom guidance lessons, students worked on calming strategies and mindfulness. Students learned different breathing techniques and calming strategies that can be implemented when experiencing something difficult. Mindfulness techniques of tapping into our senses as a biological way of calming down were utilized as well. The school counselor provides an activity done in class to further learning. Ask your student about this activity and the things they’ve learned from it.
