FRONTIER EAGLE NEWS
October 2021
A Note from the FMS Administrative Team
It's hard to believe that October is now upon us! October is a busy month, as we will wrap up the first quarter in three short weeks, host virtual parent/teacher conferences, and participate in fall break at the end of the month. In the interim, our students will be busy finalizing their learning for the first nine weeks of the academic year.
As we progress further into the year, many parents have been asking how their students can become more involved in the FMS community. While our sporting teams (XC, basketball, track, dance, and cheer) are only offered to our eighth graders, we are lucky to host a variety of other clubs and intramurals for both seventh and eighth-graders. The easiest way with which to keep up with the latest opportunities is to visit our FMS website. By clicking here, you can access the most up-to-date information regarding current sports, clubs, and intramurals. Please keep in mind that an intramural permission slip must be on file in the Student Office prior to participation. (Forms are available in both the main and student offices.)
Sincerely,
Dr. Laura Rowe, Principal
Mr. Kevin Kuehl, Assistant Principal (7th Grade)

Updated Information Regarding WSD-Modified Quarantine Process
*This information was shared by the WSD Community Relations Department on Friday, October 1. We have included it again in our newsletter so that all families are aware of the changes that are now in effect:
We wanted to make parents and students aware that effective Monday, October 4, 2021, a new WSD-modified quarantine process will go into effect. The WSD-modified quarantine allows all close contacts who were exposed in the regular school or bus setting (regardless of mask status) to continue attending school in person. In order to qualify for this modification, students must remain consistently and appropriately masked and symptom-free throughout the duration of their 14-day quarantine period and may not participate in extracurricular activities. If students become symptomatic or do not consistently and appropriately wear a mask, they will be required to quarantine at home for the remainder of the 14 days.
The WSD will continue to participate in contact tracing and provide all relevant information to the St. Charles County Department of Public Health, and the SCCDPH will continue to issue orders of quarantine. While the provision of the WSD-modified quarantine allows for students who were exposed during school to continue attending school during the period of full quarantine, families may still elect to keep their student(s) home during this time period. The decision to attend school during this time would be at the parents’ discretion, and student learning will be supported by the WSD staff, regardless of whether the student chooses to attend in person or learn while at home during this time period. As a reminder, students must remain completely symptom-free and appropriately and consistently wear a well-fitted mask in order to be eligible for the new WSD-modified quarantine. Students who do not meet these criteria must remain at home for the duration of their quarantine period.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students safe and at school.

Updated Proof of Residency Needed
Starting with the 2021-2022 school year, all WSD schools will ask every current family to provide updated proof of residency to the school that serves the oldest child in the family. The documents will be collected from August 1 through October 31. A list of the approved documents can be accessed here. New enrollments will be required to provide full proof of residency documentation.

Leases:
Provide current lease with all occupant names and utility bill (water, sewer, electric, gas) within the last 30 days. Utility bill mailing address and service address must match. If a lease transitions to month-to-month then provide the updated addendum. If it is a mobile home trailer and pad, then the lease for both should match. Leases should include all pages of the lease.
