Dermis and Epidermis
The epidermis, which is avascular, the top layer of the skin and is a thinner layer than the dermis. The bottom layer of the epidermis continually goes through cell division, which constantly produces more cells. The dermis, is the layer underneath the epidermis and is vascular. The main purpose of the dermis is to cushion the body from stress, strain and to provide elasticity to the skin, heat and sense of touch.
