Distance Learning means a new learning schedule at the Middle/High School
While we still have no specifics on what the exact details of Distance Learning will be for the students in Minnesota, we feel very certain that when Monday arrives, we will be moving to that approach. Because of that, we want to start sharing some information with you now so you can have time to make plans and adjust. We hope to share pieces throughout the week as they become finalized. Here are some of the details for the Middle/High School. The Elementary's plan will look different because they have different needs at that level.
Middle School Students will be making schedule changes that were planned. Eighth graders will move to their new quarter class and will meet on the days scheduled for that type of class. For example Math Enrichment would meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Art 8 would meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. Seventh graders will meet FACS and Business once per week. Sixth graders will follow their rotation for business, art and music. An email will be sent to 6th graders telling them which class they are in for each rotation. All PE/Reading Rotations for Middle School will have PE/Health on Mondays and Reading on Tuesdays.
College Now Courses and PSEO Courses will not necessarily follow our schedule. Students in these COLLEGE COURSES must be able to adjust and adapt to meet the requirements that the college has set up. We will still take attendance but there may be different requirements. Please be working with your teachers on this.
Ninth and 10th grade Rotations for PE/Health and Business classes will have PE/Health on Mondays and Business on Tuesdays each week.
Because classes are meeting every other day, we expect each class to have up to 40 minutes of a mixture of instruction and assignments/work. We also realize there is a learning curve, so the intensity of the work/instruction will likely increase as students become more comfortable with this learning format.
Students should be checking their email regularly!
Attendance
If a student does not answer the question of the day on two consecutive sessions, the teacher will contact the parents. If the student does not answer the question of the day on three consecutive sessions, the office will contact the parents. If multiple attempts to contact the family are unsuccessful, law enforcement will be contacted to check in with the family and make sure the family is safe.
