Leyden presents The Spongebob Musical
Leyden High Schools’ Magna award-winning theatre program is proud to bring their annual district musical, Nickelodeons' The Spongebob Musical, to the West Leyden stage, March 2-4. This marks the directorial debut of our newest director/technical director, Teslen Sadowski.
The Spongebob Musical is an adaption of the iconic Nickelodeon series and brings all of the beloved bikini bottoms residents to life in a modern musical that feels more like a rock concert! The Spongebob Musical features original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edwards Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might be Giants, T.I. and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley.
In the musical, all of Bikini Bottom is headed for total annihilation until an unexpected, and previously shunned, outcast rises to the top.
“At its core, The Spongebob Musical is about the strength of a community and how every person has a hand in contributing to its success,” said Fine Arts Coordinator Adrianne Nix. “If there is anything that Covid taught us in the Leyden Theatre, it is that it takes a village, and Leyden is so excited to bring our village of cast and crew together to present The Spongebob Musical to our community in one of our biggest district musicals yet!”
The Spongebob Musical will be performed in the West Auditorium (1000 Wolf Road, Northlake, IL) March 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and March 4 at 2 p.m. CST. For more information and to purchase advance tickets please visit https://our.show/spongeboblhs.

Leyden offers dual degree program
Attention freshmen and sophomore students and families:
Leyden High School and Triton College have partnered to offer a Dual Degree Program, allowing students to fulfill high school graduation requirements as well as earn an Associate’s degree by the end of their senior year. Enroll in college-level courses while still in high school, reducing both the time and money needed to earn a college degree. Students who take part in this program take a class at Triton five days a week. Students with 2.5 GPA, 95% attendance and a teacher recommendation are eligible.
Tuition and fees are paid by the district upon successful completion of the program. Dual enrollment cohorts include Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Horticulture and Welding. Interested students should make an appointment with their counselor for more information.
Parents asked to provide feedback on 5Essentials Survey
Through the Illinois State Board of Education, parents have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about Leyden High School District 212. This survey provides Leyden administrators with important information that helps to better understand our parents, students and staff. In addition, this year, questions will include remote learning and will explore the unique year we’ve experienced together.
In order to remain compliant with this state requirement, Leyden needs a minimum of 20-percent participation from parents, students and staff. Input is kept confidential and helps us understand our families and as we make decisions moving forward.
We encourage parents to please share your feelings, insights, and perspective with us via this survey, which will remain open through March 11. Students and staff will have the option to participate in this survey during a scheduled time in the near future.
