3rd Grade

From the Teacher's Pen
Tuesday's MAP test started out with a great deal of excitement. The 3rd graders needed to be told several times to settle down and get quiet so we could start the test. Once they started though, the mood shifted. I was proud of how truly hard they worked at each and every question. We scheduled about 65 minutes for each day's testing session with a break half-way through each. No matter how difficult the testing was for them, they came in happy and excited. I often marvel at the resilient and upbeat nature of children in the face of challenges.
Creative Seating
Several students have brought in their bubble seat, which is raising interest in other students. Here again is information if you want to take a look at them. They are called stability discs, or wobble cushions and can be found for a range of prices ($14 - $42) at Amazon.com or Walmart.com. But please do not feel compelled to purchase one. Consider a foam chair pad with a fun-patterned washable pillow case covering if your child feels they need to have something.
