Sparling Newsletter

November 4, 2020

Dear Families,

Things continue to be busy here at Sparling School. The students and staff enjoyed some Halloween fun last week and we have included some photos below! Thank you to our school community for ensuring students were independent with their costumes. We hope everyone enjoyed a spooktacular Halloween.

In our newsletter you will find important dates, the dates of our virtual book fair, a message from BRSD, and a literacy idea to try at home! Reading out loud to our children is an excellent way to spark a love for books, improve fluency, increase communication, and build vocabulary! A favourite book in our house is Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess. Each day we are also working on sight words in our morning announcements! Literacy is in action here at Sparling School!

If you have any questions or concerns, remember we can always be reached at the office.

Change to our Pick Up and Drop Off Times starting Nov. 18th

Thank you to everyone who has supported our staggered arrival and dismissal at Sparling School. Our hallways are quiet and less crowded in the morning which supports keeping our students safe but also ensures a wonderful start to learning! As we move into November and Quarter 2 we are going to change the arrival/dismissal time for our later group slightly, so our students aren't outside quite as long. Effective on Nov. 18th:

Arrival: 8:20am - 8:30am

Dismissal: 2:55pm -3:05pm

Nature Kindergarten (Mrs. Veale)

Kindergartion (Mrs. Syrnyk)

Dress for the Weather

With the snow and colder weather arriving it is important to remember to dress for the weather. Recess and outside PE are important components of the day to help keep energized and focused for learning. Please ensure your child has boots, ski pants, coats, toques, mitts, and scarves as we approach the winter season.
