Gardens' Greetings

Welcome Back to School

And We Are Off.....

It's hard to top the Kona Ice Truck of the Open House, but the first day of school was met with smiles on the returning students and wonder on the little ones. The students were leaning backwards with school bags chock full of new supplies! All staff was on deck to walk the students to their rooms.

In our first full week of school, we have been practicing our routines and schedule. If you have questions still about your child's class schedule or their supplies, a great place to check is on the teacher's website. You can find that by going to the home page, parent resources, teacher websites. Find your child's teacher and click on their name. This is a great place to check for homework and events as well.

Please be sure to update your information on Powerschool. It is important in case of any emergencies or if the school is trying to reach out to you.

Safety in our building is our number one priority and we are constantly evaluating and reevaluating our protocol and measures. We hold two drills a month to practice. We appreciate your understanding of our security measures such as dropping off at the door, always ringing and signing in, and following our drop-off and pick-up procedures too. Below is the a wonderful illustration of how to drop off safely and correctly!

Come Join us at the Community Breakfast

Dear Bradley Gardens School Families,

You are happily invited to attend a Bradley Gardens School Community Breakfast on Friday, September 27th, sponsored by your Bradley Gardens School teachers and support professionals through the Bridgewater-Raritan Education Association. This event has been coordinated by the school staff as an opportunity to bring members of our school community together. This is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other better. The breakfast will start at 7:05 in the Cafeteria/Gymnasium. Parents are welcome to stay until 8:05 AM, at which time, parents will depart before the buses arrive, and staff members will supervise the students until the school day begins at 8:25 AM. Breakfast will consist of a variety of catered items such as eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, bagels, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and tea. The event is free to the families, as the cost is covered via the teachers and support professionals through their BREA association dues. However, we encourage a small donation to your school PTO at the door. Please be sure to register online if you plan to attend so that we may supply an adequate amount of food for those in attendance. Online registration for the event must be completed at least two days prior to the breakfast. We hope to see you and your child/children for this enjoyable community gathering.

After five years of teaching, I became a School Counselor and feel so blessed to be doing what I love. Feel free to reach our to me if I can assist your child in any way.

Nurse's Notes by Kimberly Colavito

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to school! I hope you enjoyed a relaxing and rejuvenating summer.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kimberly Colavito, and I am the new school nurse for Bradley Gardens. I am very excited to be here. I am looking forward to getting to know your children and you.

Keeping you children safe and healthy is my main priority. Here are a few reminders that will insure success.

  • A child with a temperature of 100.2F or greater is considered to have a fever. Please do not send them to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication. This will help decrease the spread of any viruses or infections and also assure that your child is recuperated and ready for learning.

  • The same is true for vomiting and/or diarrhea with regard to school attendance and recovery.

  • Adequate amount of sleep is key to learning as well as a healthy breakfast.

  • Children are not always aware of being thirsty, so I am always encouraging them to drink more water. You can help by sending them to school with a water bottle.

  • Frequent hand washing is essential to decrease the spread of germs and viruses. You are the best teacher for your children so practice good hand washing techniques with them and it will become a lifetime habit that is hard to break!

I hope you have found this information helpful. I am always available for any questions or concerns. Please feel free to reach out to me. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your child’s school experience.

Respectfully yours,

Kimberly Colavito
