GRE Family Gazette
September 22, 2019
Dear GRE Families,
Thank you to those families that attended our first round of Parent Teacher Conferences. It was wonderful to get the chance to sit down and talk about your amazing children. Our next round of Parent Teacher Conferences is Wednesday, October 2nd.
This week we will have our September Party Wagon! Our Party Wagon will celebrate our Leader's of the Month! These students are recognized for going above and beyond and we can't wait to celebrate with them. Our 2nd Graders will head to Lehner's Farm on Friday as well!
Here's to a great week!

3. GRE’s Art Day will be on Friday November 8th instead of in the spring! We are looking to bring some new artists to GRE to work with our students and looking for any connections you may have in our community! On Art Day students have the opportunity to work with both a VISUAL artist to make something and a PERFORMING artist to learn how to do something.
If you are an artist or you have any connections to a visual or performing artist who you think would be interested, PLEASE share them through this GRE Art Day- Artist Connections link!
Special Spotlight: Art with Mrs. Doran
This year at GRE our school-wide theme is “Adventure Awaits at GRE,” so we are moving on to some ART-venture themed projects!
KG- Students are going on an animal adventure and exploring animals in art! We are starting by reading the book Color Zoo and looking at how artists use shapes to make pictures.
1st- Students are finishing up learning about our choice based option rules and procedures before going on an ocean adventure! We will be exploring art from under the sea to learn about lines and shapes!
2nd- Students are kicking off their ART-venture by designing their own hot air balloons….what a fun way to travel the world that would be! We are reviewing the elements of line, shape and pattern.
3rd- Students were given the drawing prompt “When I got to the door, I peeked through the keyhole and saw an adventure on the other side.” Students then choose to draw what kind of adventure is through their keyhole. Landscapes, fantasy scenes and outer space were just a few of the adventures students came up with!
4th- Students are working with their classmates to create collaborative fantasy world maps. Each student is creating a piece of the map and then using their coordinates to put their map together. Students have been enjoying drawing from their imaginations and creating a made up world!
Art to Remember- Students in kindergarten through fourth grade kicked off their year in art with our Art to Remember project! All the projects are complete and personalized order forms will be coming home the beginning of October! Keep an eye out for this form to order your child's awesome artwork on great items….and they will be delivered in time of the holidays!
Homecoming Parade- We are still looking for some BIG pieces of cardboard for our Adventure themed homecoming float! If you have any extra big boxes to donate, feel free to drop them off in the office!
