WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR HAUNTED FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES!
One of the things that makes Blue Ash Elementary the great school that it is, is the volunteers.
Our biggest event is our Haunted Festival and in order for it to be a success we need volunteers to help support fun games and activities. This is one of those events that you will have just as much fun volunteering as you have participating....
Please read the information below from our PTO and sign up where you can. We don't want to have to cancel any of our games and activities, as our children love them all!
Haunted Festival 2017 Friday, October 13, 2017 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
New this year, for each shift you volunteer the night of haunted festival you will receive 5 tickets good for games, food and drinks!!!
We are in desperate need of volunteers we need 24 people for 1st shift, We need 50 people for 2nd shift, and we need 63 people for third shift.
Haunted Festival is the Blue Ash Elementary PTO’s largest annual family fun night. Many volunteers will be needed to set up, run games, activities, and tables during Haunted Fest! We would love your help by working one shift such as running a game or selling food. We need 300 volunteers to make this festival run smoothly! Adults and children in 5th grade or higher are welcome as volunteers. This is a wonderful opportunity for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and students 5th grade and up. Choose the shift and assignment you want and you may select to work with a friend. We can’t wait to see you! If you have questions please contact Debbie Flinchpaugh-Kirby at baevolunteers@gmail.com

More From Mrs. Combs
October is "Bullying Prevention Awareness Month". Our children have spent valuable time this year learning about ways to be inclusive, supportive and empathetic to each other.
To kick of the month of October, Monday, October. 2, has been named "World Day of Bullying Prevention". And the challenge by the Stomp Out Bullying organization is for students, staff and community to wear blue to raise awareness and to show that we are united in our efforts to stop bullying.
At Blue Ash we are proud to Be Safe, Respectful, Responsible, Problem Solvers. And we pledge to look out for ourselves and each other every day.
Don't Forget! ~ No School For Students Friday, September 29.
End of Day Pick up Reminders
Parents, in order to maintain a safe dismissal process for all students, please remember to sign your child out, and then wait for them to meet you in the cafeteria. We ask that you not stand in the hallways as it does not allow our staff to effectively monitor students.
Parents need to arrive by 3:45 for student pick up.
Notes from our Nurse
Vision and hearing screening will begin next week on the following dates: October 6, 9 and 11. If your child wears glasses, please remind your student to wear their glasses to school.
Remember if your student has been ill. Students may return to school after 24 hours without fever, vomiting or diarrhea. Illness guidelines are listed on our school district website at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2308
New or gently used clothing are welcomed for our school community. Often times students need extra change of clothing for spilled lunch, recess puddles or other mishaps.
Food donations are always welcomed and can be placed in the food donation container in main office. Please remember when making donations to check for expiration dates and packaging is intact.
Sycamore Community School District is looking for Substitute Nurses. Are you an RN with an active license and recent nursing experience who would like to work as a substitute in one of our school buildings? Important Transportation Funding Information.....
Funding for Ohio school districts’ bus transportation is partially supported by the number of students that ride the bus. The amount is based on the accounting of students that ride the bus during a given week. This year's school bus ridership count will take place October 2nd-October 6th. Counts are taken on the morning ride into school as well as the kindergarten midday ride into school.
If your child typically rides the bus to school, please make an extra effort to ensure that they do so during the week of October 2nd - October 6th so our numbers accurately reflect our transportation needs. Thank you!
BAE Service Project. We care and we show it!!
At Sycamore Schools it is part of our mission to address the needs of the total student, teaching not only to the mind but to the heart. To this end, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders at Blue Ash Elementary are undertaking a school service project that will overlap with curriculum standards in their reading and writing classes. On November 17th, 20th, and 21st they will be heading into the community to show their appreciation and lend a helping hand. Our goal is to go to as many houses as possible and get to work serving others. Do you need raking completed at your house? Just LEAF it to us! Do you know of someone else who lives in Blue Ash and may be in need of this service? You can fill this out on their behalf! There is no limit to the number of times you can submit.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Jim Weeks or Jennifer Kolde at 513-686-1710.
PTO INFORMATION:
PTO night Owl Meeting
Please join the PTO Night Owls to help decorate the building for fall and the Halloween festival! Tuesday, October 3 and Wednesday, October 11th at 7:30 pm at Blue Ash Elementary. We have the decorations. You bring your glue gun and glue sticks (if you have them), a step stool or small ladder, and a creative mind! Come for as little or as long as you can. The kids LOVE to see our "surprise" when they come to school the next morning!
The PTO Night Owls group is a great way to meet other BAE parents while helping out our school. The group meets one evening a month twice in October to work on projects that directly impact our children. No experience is necessary and new members are always welcome!
