Empowering World Class Leaders and Life-Long Learners!
Happy September!
It is hard to believe that when we come back to school on Tuesday, it will already be Sept. 3! I hope that the year is off to a great start for you & your Stallion! We have had extremely positive feedback on our Parent Information Nights. Be sure to keep up with campus news and let your teachers know if you have any questions. (Celebrations are great to hear too!)

RRISD Chess Tournament
Round Rock ISD will be hosting a chess tournament for students in second-sixth grades. Although we do not have a formal chess team at Patsy Sommer, we do have several students who participate . If you are interested in participating in the RRISD tournament, please let me know as soon as possible. I have currently submitted our interest as "Maybe". Please see below for qualifications.
Email Tricia Marques at tricia_marques@roundrockisd.org by Friday, Sept. 6.
Details you will need to know when thinking of participating:
- Each campus will need to provide 2 volunteers--one faculty member and one chaperone (can be a parent). The faculty member should be willing to volunteer at the tournament in some capacity and to receive information for your campus.
- Students must be registered through the USCF ($17/year), as the tournament will have rankings attached.
- Student cost will be $10/student. We are working on a system on how to implement this.
- The proposed date is November 9th, location TBD. It would likely last all day (8 AM to 4 PM).
- It is for students in 2nd-6th grades only. There will be rankings-based games (under 500, 501-1000, etc.), plus possibly an open room. The divisions will be determined by student entries.
Club Night is Coming...
Club Night is Sept. 12 at 6 pm in the cafeteria. Sommer Enrichment Club offerings will be shared as well as the online process for signing up. Due to upcoming district performances, the Stallion Choir was given permission to accept student applications early. Information for 3rd-5th graders was sent home by classroom teachers.
Celebrations
- Congratulations to Amber Sun. She won two 2nd place medals in the South Texas Junior STAGS Long Course Championship (50M & 100M breastroke).
- Congratulations to teachers Cori Gagliardi and Amanda Williams! They were awarded a $2000 grant from the RRISD PIE Foundation to purchase poetry books for our Lit Library.
- Our first fire drill was a great success with all students exiting the building and accounted for in less than 4 minutes.
Mr. Molina prepares for the fire drill.
Congratulations Miss Gagliardi & Miss Williams!
