Success Shout Outs!
- Thanks to our front office support staff: Ms. Gibson, Ms. Veal, Ms. Lyles, Ms. Keel, and Ms. Sims. They held down the front desk and gave superb customer service to our parents and visitors. It was busy up front! Phones, questions, visitors, etc. – but they held it together.
- Thanks to Mr. Slaughter and his team. You all did an awesome job getting the building clean, monitoring for construction needs and taking care of staff needs. You rock!
- Thanks to our car rider monitors, bus monitors and nursery van support team. Many of you jumped in and supported the processes during dismissal without being assigned a bus or nursery van duty.
- Thanks teachers and assistants for making sure our babies received a good orientation to their new school and classroom. I saw many great examples of getting to know you activities and reviews of school and classroom rules and procedures.
- Thanks Admin Team and Admin Team support! You ROCK! Awesome 1st day.
Curriculum Connections and Expectations
Wolf Pack Principles – WPP’s
110% Every teacher, every class, every day!
1. Essential Questions/Standards
2. R. O. P. E. S. (Problem Solving strategy)
3. Writing – Constructed Responses, Citing text, 6 Traits
4. Lesson Planning Process – Activator/hook, flexible grouping, rotations, assessment
5. A. D. R. (Assessment-Data-Re-teaching)
6. Artifacts of Learning
7. Rigor and Relevance - Higher Order Thinking Skills, critical thinking
Use this week for gradual implementation of your instructional model. Our rotations should be 20 minutes during reading specifically. Students should receive instruction at the teacher station, rotate to a technology station and other group and independent activities.
Things to think about:
How will your students rotate? On a bell, on a timer, on a key phrase or teacher prompt?
How will you make that rotation orderly and consistent?
What will students do in the stations?
Back To School Updates & Things To Do
- Review email correspondences from Canty regarding 1st Day of school/week procedure
- Review and complete Back To School Checklist, School handbooks
- Pay close attention to attendance procedures - students in seats = staffing decisions
- Remember your required participation in Model Mondays and Spirit wear Fridays. Represent Wolf creek colors in your attire. You looked GREAT!!! Thanks!
- Review PACK expectations with your students. See a great activity below! Thanks for sharing Hammocks!
- Push hard this week with P.A.C.K. principles and the color chart. It is important that students understand this expectation
Have you had your first class meeting?
How did it go?
Did you set the tone?
When will you have them? They should be consistent.
Do you have classroom leaders? What are the identified roles?
- Lunch cards and zip tie cards are important. Be sure they are attached to the student's book bag as outlined by Canty.
- Remember your required participation in Model Mondays and Spirit wear Fridays. Represent Wolf creek colors in your attire. You looked Great!
- Use of technology – The expectation is that all teachers are using technology. Your interactive board should be used as a station and for instruction. Remember you are the facilitator. Allow the students to use the tools to enhance their learning and create products. Need ideas – see Huff for ideas and quick tips. Also, remember to review the email correspondence from Braggs regarding the Interactive Projector training webinar. Each class should have 3 laptops. They should be on and in use daily. They should be secured each evening in your file cabinet or closet. Share the awesome instructional sites, links and log-ins that you can be used with your students with your colleagues.
- Continue to dine for lunch with your students and set the expectation for the cafeteria.
- Recess – Review the expectation in the staff handbook and follow the schedule. We want to ensure a safe and non-crowded recess time.
- Encourage student participation in our school uniform practice that is STRONGLY encouraged. They looked great today!
- Agendas - Take a moment to review the expectation of how students should use them today.

Good afternoon and Welcome to the new school year!
FCS requests that all employees review some essential policies/training materials annually, so that there is an awareness of the serious expectations outlined in each. The list of this information is accessed and submitted electronically in order to establish a record of the training. It is not an exhaustive list. Also, when policy revisions are made or new ones created, a systemic alert is made to notify district personnel of the policy change(s). (If you are a new hire this is part of your “First 30 days” requirements; please review the instructions listed on the New Employee portal page link).
In order to complete this review,
1. Please go to www.fultonschools.org, Human Resources/Talent Department the bottom of the page
2. Click on Access Personnel Records/Forms link (at bottom right of page)
3. Log in using your FCS email address and click on Forgot Password to have the information sent to you if you don’t recall the password (it may not be your normal network password) OR to receive your initial password
4. Click on Forms tab, New Form, go to Employee Policy Code/Review-FY18
5. Click on Start Form to begin your review
Several of the essential trainings are housed in Edivate. Watch this brief tutorial to see how to access required trainings and other trainings/courses: Edivate Basic Navigation
It is important that all read Policy GAM (Staff Rights and Responsibilities). Failure to report an arrest within the stated timeline (5 days) can result in the immediate termination of one’s employment with FCS. The electronic Notice of Employee Arrest form is on the Human Resources portal and is to be used for submitting an official notice to the Employee Relations department.
Finally, OCTOBER 31, 2017 is the deadline for completing this review. Again, the checklist is not exhaustive, and it is expected that employees are aware of all the FCBOE policies/procedures that inform their work. Board policies, procedures, and operating guidelines are accessible via the district website.
Please contact the Technology Help Desk if you need assistance, technologyhelpdesk@fultonschools.org or 470-254-4357.
