Guadalajara is located in the central region of Jalisco in the western-pacific area of Mexico.
The Lerma River
Mexico's 2nd largest river, it's about 750 km long. It empties out into Lake Chapala, near Guadalajara.
Is a mountain chain that divides mexico into two vertical sections, and passes through Guadalajara.
- Guadalajara is known as the birthplace of the world famous Mariachi bands, and the home of the Mexican hat dance.
- It was founded February 14th 1542 by Dona Beatriz Hernandez.
- Was capital of the kingdom of New Galicia, which dominated a large territory stretching to what is modern day California.
Templo Expiatorio del Santísimo Sacramento
This beautiful place is highly recommended to visit if in Guadalajara it's a Catholic church dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament. Construction of the building started in 1897, then was finally completed in 1972. The Pope at the time picked the architect by having a competition between a group of architects.
This is a famous football/soccer stadium in Guadalajara. It would be a fun place to visit because it has interesting facts such as it has held 2 FIFA world cup games in 1970 and 1986. It is the third largest football stadium in Mexico and was opened on January 31st, 1960.
Zoológico Guadalajara (Guadalajara Zoo)
This zoo is very popular it started operating 1988 as a conservation project. It has many species, especially birds. They also have many endangered species and help to protect them and bring them back to a good number.
Is a "drowned sandwich" because it is in a spicy tomato and chili sauce and stuffed with fried pork. It is a very yummy dish that you would want to eat if you visited Guadalajara.
Guadalajara is known for it's "perfect climate" the spring and summer are pretty mild, but lots of rain comes in those season making the air cleaner. They don't really have winter the temperatures are pretty mild year round. The most rain comes in July in August.The average high temperatures are 80's and 90's and the lows are upper 60's to 70's
