What's happening at Milan Elementary School
ISTEP+ TESTING, ROUND 2 begins at MES
Grade 4's testing period will start Thursday, April 23 and continue through Friday, May 1 with a testing window of 8-11:00 a.m.*
Grade 5 will begin the test on Tuesday, April 28 and continue through Tuesday, May 5. Their testing will take place in the mornings from 8-10:00 a.m.*
Grade 3 will begin our final round of testing on Friday, May 1 and will end on Monday, May 11. Testing times will vary by class and will be from 8-11:00 in the mornings or 12:45-1:45* in the afternoons.
Parents, we ask your help in scheduling appointments, etc. around these times and making sure your student gets to school on time each day. You can also help your child do their best on the test by making sure he or she gets plenty of rest each night and eats a good breakfast, either at home or here at school. And, we urge you to join all of us here at school in encouraging our boys and girls to "Do your best on the test!"
*Please note that your child will not test the entire time every day. Most tests are much shorter but the longer window of time is needed to give everyone computer access.

SPRING BOOK FAIR!!
Reading for pleasure, both at school and at home, has real and long-lasting benefits for your child. It unlocks the power of information and imagination (without electronics) and helps kids discover who they are and explore the wonders of the world around them. Summertime is a great time for kids to explore topics and books that interest them.
We know that kids of all ages are more likely to read if they have good books readily available to them. To help your child, and you, stock up on a supply of good books to have on hand for the summer ahead, Milan Elementary will have a "BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE" SPRING BOOK FAIR on Monday, May 11, from 4-7:30 p.m. in our gym. Please note that this is a one day only book fair and there will be no shopping hours during the school day. Watch for flyers to come home soon!

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Milan Elementary held registration for students beginning Kindergarten in the fall on March 31. If you have a child who will be five by August 1 and missed this registration date, we urge you to contact the school at 654-2922 to set up an appointment.
Please do not feel that you have to wait for a birth certificate and/or immunization record. You have until school starts to produce these documents. It is very important that we at least get your child registered and complete the screening process before August so we can order enough supplies and set up class rosters.
