Holy Rosary School Derby
NEWSLETTER / TERM 1 / WEEK 6 / 7th March 2023

Message from Miss Melanie
We have had a short couple of weeks with our pupil free days and the public holiday. Our staff attended some professional development in Broome last week to learn more about the direction that CEWA is taking in the teaching of literacy and numeracy. We spent the day with staff from St Mary's and it was hosted at Notre Dame University by CEWA consultants from Perth and the Kimberley.
I would like to welcome to our staff Miss Sharmaine, who has taken the role of our school cleaner. We appreciate the hard work it takes in keeping our classrooms clean and appreciate how quickly she has taken to her responsibilities. Thank you Miss Sharmaine.
Our next assembly is on this Friday 10th March at 1.45pm. We will be announcing our Student leaders and presenting them with their badges at this assembly. We have a few nervous year five and six students who are eager to learn what leadership role they will have for 2023. All students who nominated, presented excellent speeches to the year three to six students who then voted who they would like for each of the roles. We look forward to making these announcements and having our student leaders taking on their responsibilities in 2023.
We also have a free dress fundraiser on March 17th for Caritas. Students are encouraged to come to school wearing green for a Gold Coin donation to support the Caritas initiative. Please no hair spray or face paint/make up for the day.
Thank you to all our families for supporting us with the start of the new school year. It has been a very smooth start and lots of learning has been taking place.
God Bless.
Miss Melanie
