EDUCATOR/ESP OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS DUE THIS WEEK!
We are excited to participate in the NJ Department of Education’s Governor’s Educator of the Year Program. This program highlights educational innovation, student learning, and the rewards of teaching. It recognizes and honors the contributions of outstanding pre-K through grade 12 classroom teachers and educational services professionals who possess a special talent for inspiring a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities and are leaders in their fields.
Over the past two and a half years, educators changed the way they delivered instruction. Now, more than ever before, is the time to celebrate New Jersey's outstanding educators.
Nominations may come from parents and colleagues and are due no later than 3PM Friday, November 18, 2022. Our school Teacher of the Year also has the chance to become County and State Teacher of the Year, so the more you share in your nomination, the better! YEARBOOK INFORMATION
NOVEMBER 2022
This week’s news will focus on our World Languages.
We have welcomed our German Exchange students to our community! The students have attended classes with their host students. They are making the most of their time and enjoying our community. They have experienced a football game, our annual Halloween paintings, walking on the boardwalk and beach, a trip to NYC and eating Taco Bell! These experiences enrich the educational experience of our students, their students and all of the foreign and domestic teachers involved. Some of our students will be heading to Germany in the summer!
In celebration of Día de los Muertos on November 1st and 2nd, Mrs. Dyson-Burns had her students engaging in dynamic learning activities designed to help the students understand how to conjugate verbs. These activities included, but are not limited to, a spinner game in pairs, creating a Sugar Skull design, the exploration of a WebQuest, uncovering the misconceptions about Día de los Muertos, and using a little mathematics to review recipes for Pan de Muerto (Bread of the Dead).
We also celebrated our newly inducted members to our French and Spanish National Honor Societies. Congratulations to all of the new inductees!
We are so grateful to be a part of each students’ journey and to continue to share our amazing experiences at South!
