Graduation Practice
- Date: Friday, May 17th
- Time:11:30am
- Where: All Seniors Meet in the Gym
Graduation is a joyous yet formal occasion; therefore, attending practice is MANDATORY for all graduates who wish to participate in Commencement. Graduates must arrive on time for graduation practice. Failure to do so may jeopardize the privilege of participating in the ceremony.
Graduation Ceremony
Graduation will be a traditional ceremony on Holland Field at Miamisburg High School on
Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 am. The weather forecast may require a slight adjustment to the time on Saturday morning; other options may include Saturday 6:30 pm or Sunday 10:00 am or 6:30 pm.
- Tickets will not be issued.
- The ceremony will be streamed for those who cannot attend. (A link will be provided closer to graduation day.)
- There will be handicapped seating.
- The graduates will sit on the field during the ceremony while families will sit in the bleachers.
- The ceremony will last approximately one hour and thirty minutes.
Graduates should dress appropriately for the occasion. Graduate dress should meet the expectations stated in our school dress code and policy. Graduates will be walking on the turf field and walking up/down steps, so please consider the type of shoes that are worn.
ALL school rules apply at rehearsal and commencement. It is our sincere hope that no students will embarrass themselves, their families or the school by being removed from the ceremony. Remember, inappropriate behavior detracts from the proper recognition that each graduate deserves when being awarded their diploma. Commencement is designed to be a dignified ceremony, therefore, toys, noisemakers, etc. are prohibited. Graduates in violation of these regulations will be removed from the program.
Graduation Caps
Graduation caps may be decorated. The decorations must be appropriate for a school function and meet our student code of conduct. All caps will be checked prior to the ceremony.

SENIOR INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Second Semester 2023-24
Our goal at MHS is to ensure every student is prepared for the next level of education in their life. Graduation is only the beginning, so whether you will be attending college, trade school or beginning a career, your education in life will continue. The following Senior Incentives were developed to encourage seniors to finish their last semester of high school in a strong, positive manner. We believe final assessments are a learning experience, yet seniors who maintain academic and behavioral expectations may earn exemptions.
Beginning with the second semester, grades and behavior will be considered for earning exemptions.
Each course a student is taking will be considered for an exemption.
GRADES: Seniors must earn 70% or higher in a class for BOTH the 3rd and 4th quarters. If an exam is exempted, the exam grade given will be the lower of the 3rd and 4th quarter grade and then averaged to calculate the final grade.
BEHAVIOR: Compliance with the Student Code of Conduct will be monitored the entire second semester.
A senior can EXEMPT the final assessment in any given course if they:
Earn a 70% or higher in that given course for BOTH the 3rd and 4th quarters and uphold Compliance with the Student Code of Conduct.
*PLEASE NOTE: Students that are enrolled in AP and/or CCP courses have specific requirements and deadlines. Exemptions cannot be used for AP or CCP courses.
The administration has the right to revoke Senior Exemptions during the final week of school for failure to maintain proper compliance with the Student Code of Conduct.
Graduation Cords
Seniors have the opportunity to earn the following academic cords to wear during the graduation ceremony.
- summa cum laude
- magna cum laude
- cum laude
- Honors Diploma
- National Honor Society
- Blood Donation
- Students will receive only one cum laude cord based on GPA after 7 semesters (Dec 20, 2023).
- The qualifying GPAs will be posted outside the counceling office at the end of January.
If you have any additional questions regarding the cords, please contact the student’s Guidance Counselor.
