Apaches
There diet mainly consisted of Buffalo, and fruits, but the Apaches that settled down in different areas they grew vegetables like Corn, Squash, Pumpkin, and fruit like Watermelon and grapes, and beans.
The Apaches would constantly raid Spanish Missions, which caused trouble with the Spanish, and usually had a bad relationship with the Apaches, but when the Spanish became attacked by the Warrior Comanche Indian tribes in Central Texas. The Spanish would ask for help from the Apaches and they would be rewarded with weapons, and horses which helped some of the Nomadic Apaches with their travels.
Kiowa
They were located on what is present day Oklahoma, Texas Panhandle, and southern Kansas.
They lived in Tee-Pees.
Before contact their popularity was between 2000-2500.
Their food sources where buffalo, rabbits, birds, wild potatoes, nuts and fruits.
They would also trade buffalo hides and meat to some farming tribes like the Mandan and Pueblo Indians.
When settling the west began they were forced to move to a reservation in Oklahoma during the 1800’s.
They were highly involved in the Red River War in June 1874.
Main used weapon was the bow and arrow.
Blackfoot
. were located in Montana (the most dominant tribe in the region)
. Originally lived in North of Great Lakes
. Moved to the west right after the Europeans arrived in 1600. But they were pushed to the North by their enemies: the Cree
. their name origins from the black moccasins they used to wear. Some people believe that the dark coloration is from the prairie fires. they were nomads and plains hunters
. were strong enemies of the shoshone and nez perce
. nowadays there are about 14,000 blackfoot.
. they were pleased with the arrival of the Europeans because of the horses, that helped on their buffaloes hunting. but then a lot of natives started dying because of the illnesses the colonists brought and the people that killed them.
. they used dogs to carry their burden, since there were no horses in america
. they used to travel in groups of 20-30 people, since they considered it the best number for hunting buffaloes. But the tribes would get together for rituals and sun dancesKiowa's Housing
