in 1933 Herbert Hoover was out of office and FDR was elected. When FDR was elected he set up an organization called the New Deal. The new deal did not end the depression but it helped agresivly and the number of jobs earned back increased by 42%.the new deal relived economic hardship and gave americans faith in the democratic system when others got hit.
dust bowl
Dust bowl
During the great deppression in the 1930's a dust bowl hit the great plains historians farmers called ''suitcase farmers''.suitcase farmers are farmers that live far away from their farms and only come to there farm when it is time to harvest or sow.and let hired laborers to work they planted wheat that did not protect the grond from high winds.
ranchers
another reason the dust bowl sand it erotarted was that ranchers let thier live stock roam around their feild.that made the top soil break down to smaller pieces like sand or dust.when the high winds blew the dust the dust flew up and eroded quickly around the plains when high winds came.
great depression
overall the dust storm made people very sick and ill to the lungs.so with the depression and the dust bowl going on it was a terror.a lot of people died because of the depression, dust storm and the storms that happend during the dust bowl called black blizzards.
