Dance
We will do the signup next week at 5pm ... I will have all the instructions in the Cub Hub that afternoon. I want everyone to have the same chance to get in as there are only 25 seats and it will automatically push out the 26th person. Stay tuned.
Lego League
Hi Bear Creek Families,
This school year we are introducing the opportunity for our kids to participate in First Lego League (FLL). For those who are not aware, this league runs across the nation and gives kids a platform to work as a team and propose solutions to real world problems using Legos. Depending on the age group, the level of participation and engagement varies.
This year’s theme is SUPERPOWEREDSM where students will explore where energy comes from and how it is distributed, stored, and used – and then put their superpowered creativity to work to innovate for a better energy future.
More information on starting a team can be found @

We have a parent volunteer, Shruti Patkar, who will help coordinate the activities for the school. The success of this program is highly dependent on parent participation. The roles include parents who can coach, who can help with coordination of different activities etc.
The time commitment needed from children and coaches can vary from 1-3 hours per week.
Typical team size is about 2-10 student participants (varies based on the age group) and 2 coaches.
In order to assess interest, families can fill in the survey below.
We will have a kickoff session early September to give more information.
PS: The school staff is supportive of this effort but will not be involved in managing or running any of the activities.
Spanish Class
This form is not binding at all. The purpose is to give me an idea of how many sections to open.
It will be after school. Once a week. One hour in duration.

Library News
Hello Bear Creek Families!
I am Melissa Goodwin, and I am so happy to be taking care of things in the library while our wonderful Ms. Saenz is home with her brand-new baby. I am truly looking forward to spending time with our cubs in the library and sharing the wonderful stories that Ms. Saenz has left for us. Classes will begin visiting the library next week.
Calling all Summer Readers!
Parents of returning cubs may remember a Summer Reading Challenge being sent home at the very end of the last school year (reading log printed on green paper). If your student participated in the challenge this summer, please send in those reading logs no later than Wednesday, August 24 so we can celebrate all the amazing reading they did with a special treat. Thanks!
