Grobe and Morris Newsletter
Week of May 4th
Grobe's Corner
I appreciate everyone being patient with Mrs. Morris and I while we were out this week. I know that when a teacher is out, it is hard for everyone, but we are both very thankful for your sweet emails, thoughts, and prayers while we were both out for with stressful situations.
The kids started the week focusing on the reading skill perspective and they took an original fairy tale and rewrote it from the perspective of another character. Their stories were well written and were very clever and fun to read!
This week we started a scavenger hunt through classic books, called Sleuth. It is a fun and engaging group assignment where students have to use all their reading skills from this year to solve clues! Ask you child about it!
Next week, we will continue with Sleuth and we will be starting a research project. If your child has an iPad, tablet, or laptop they can bring to school, that would be most helpful! They will be conducting research for two weeks during my class time and any use of personal technology would greatly benefit our students!
Blessings,

In Math this week, we learned about financial literacy. This included profit, expenses (fixed/variable), budget, interest and much more. They did great while I was out. Next week we will start to review for our Math District Assessment. We will have a different Kahoot game each day, so please make sure that your child brings a device that has wifi capabilities. We will have a few extra devices, but not enough for every child to get their own. Our next district assessment will be May 15th.
In Science, we discussed Wind and got to make a wind sock, and we discussed temperature and used thermometers to see what the temperature was of different liquids. Next week we will start learning about the water cycle and how clouds and humidity are formed.
Make sure that you continue practicing your math facts!!
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers during this past week. I feel terrible that I missed so much time, but I know that I need time to heal physically, mentally and emotionally. Life is precious; never take a single moment for granted.
Have a great weekend!
