Big picture

Principal's Message

We are now one week away from our fall break! It is hard to believe that we are almost 25% of the way through the school year. How it has flown! Over the past week we have welcomed several Watch D.O.G.S. to our campus and they have been quite busy! I'm sure they went home tired, but we appreciate every volunteer we get. You are always welcome at ACE! And if you haven't volunteered yet, please check out our PTO's webpage for information on how to volunteer.

Last week we completed literacy assessments for every student in the building to get an idea on what reading level they are on. Our teachers and teams will now be working together to make plans to stretch reading learning even further based upon this information. How can you help with this? It starts with reading with your student every night. Have them read to you if they are up to it! You will find their skills get better and better with time because of your focus.

We are so grateful for your support for Autumn Creek!

Construction Update

The construction crew continues to work in our building during the 4pm to midnight timeframe. Recent completed work includes:

  1. final ceiling install in library and lobby- it now looks like the canopy of a tree, complete with orange ACE/ fall colors.

  2. playgrounds are complete and are in use.

  3. Grass seed was sprayed around our play areas and various parts of the property late last week.

  4. "long throw" projectors installed in cafeteria and gym.

Things we are still waiting on:

  1. furniture- we have a lot of furniture that is delayed due to COVID delays. Believe it or not, table legs are a big hold up due to a shortage of steel!

  2. speakers in the gym and cafeteria

Mackenzie is a first time para, but has years of experience working with elementary school aged children. She was an after school counselor for the YMCA at Hidden Hollow Elementary for 2 years and has volunteered many times with the children’s ministry at her church. She loves working with all ages of children, but Pre-K holds a special place in her heart! In 2 weeks she will no longer be Miss Kenzie...but Mrs. Kenzie! When she’s not at school, you can catch Mackenzie going on Target runs, hanging out with family and friends, or at home snuggled up with a blanket playing video games or watching Disney World vlogs on YouTube. She is ecstatic to be a part of the ACE family and is looking forward to impacting the lives of her Pre-K students.

Melissa Frasier joins us from California and will be our new kindergarten teacher! She has spent 8 years as a kindergarten teacher there. Her family is relocating to Texas due to her husband's work. We are fortunate to have her!

Lacey Williams will be our fifth 1st grade teacher! She joins us from the Lafayette area with extensive experience with pre-K, kindergarten, and 1st grade. She was on the leadership team of her former school, but also is relocating to Houston.

Important upcoming dates!

Staff Favorite Book

The Staff Favorite Book this week is from Mrs. Autumn Jackson and is "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss.

I absolutely LOVE this book because it talks about the journey of life, the challenges and JOYS! It makes my heart so happy to bring JOY and SMILES to others. As a former K-5 Academic Literacy Teacher, I have a great LOVE for bringing literacy into the ART Studio, fostering student's creativity, love for learning and helping them achieve their GOALS! :) Dr. Seuss said it best, "The more you READ, the more things you will KNOW. The more that you LEARN, the more places you'll GO!
