Ten JHS Students Named Nat'l Merit Semifinalists
Congratulations to JHS seniors Erin Anderson, Matthew Ding, Madison Dunn, Anna Janni, Akshaya Kumar, Karson Lee, Jackie Liang, Paxson Picken, Taylor Siebert, and Stella Zeng for earning the 2020 National Merit Semifinalists title. This is the largest group of semifinalists the district has had in recent years.

Homecoming Parade Information
The 2019 Johnston Homecoming parade is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th at 6:00 p.m. and will follow the same route along Pioneer Parkway as in years past.

The JHS accounting office will be open for ticket pre-sale purchases for ALL Johnston home football games starting Monday, Sept. 16. Accounting office hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The accounting office sells tickets in advance the week of a home game.
Tickets are $6 each and can be paid for with cash or check.You can purchase tickets for any and/or all home games in advance at the accounting office. There is no refund for unused tickets. More
Pippert Named Teacher of the Month
Johnston High School math teacher Danielle Pippert has been named the September Teacher of the Month by the Huntington Learning Center. Each month, Huntington students nominate teachers in their own school districts who go above and beyond for their students and make a true difference in education. Congratulations, Danielle!
School Board Candidacy Deadline is Sept. 19
District Office Move Update
The new district office, located at 6510 NW 62nd Ave) is nearing completion! The current district office, located at 5608 Merle Hay Rd., will shut down on Friday, Sept. 20 at 2:30 p.m. so the move can begin.
The new district office will be open to the public on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7:45 a.m. We appreciate everyone's patience while district staff get settled into their new location.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
2019-20 Goals: Goal #3: Evaluation Framework Implementation. Using the Danielson Framework, all staff will now be evaluated through this tool. It is paperless and much more functional and transparent than tools of the past. Model Teachers have been set up to start using the Framework by uploading artifacts, creating accounts, and scheduling coaching times.
Construction Update: Michael Schmitz (Stahl) All projects are nearly complete in the district. At the new district office, furniture is being assembled, signs are being installed, and finishing touches are wrapping up. The board will be asked to approve the certificate of substantial completion later in the meeting. The Certificate of Occupancy was also granted on Monday. The IT Annex is done. Work at JMS will be done on Wednesday after the early out. Seeding and plantings at the baseball and softball complex should be wrapped up in two-three weeks.
