September 2022 - John Dewey High School
A Message from Your Principal
Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year! I am thrilled to welcome our students and staff back to school.
It has been a busy summer at John Dewey High School for those students who attended summer learning programs and classes. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful new school year!
Our incredible staff of educators have been in school throughout the summer to prepare curriculum and grading for the new school year. We are excited to welcome new staff members to our community. We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social emotional learning while continuing to focus on building classroom community.
We are aware that we will need to address unfinished learning by using an acceleration model to fill in gaps in knowledge. Instruction will be focused on specialized skills and
content needed to learn grade level materials while providing the appropriate tools needed to grasp concepts.
John Dewey is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and have high expectations for each and every student. Our students are kind, compassionate, and resilient. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. Our John Dewey motto “Dewin It Right” will continue to guide our mission to provide a rigorous and joyful inclusive school environment. Our overarching goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.
Partnering with families will be crucial this year as we continue to foster strong relationships and collaboration for student success. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our website www.johndeweyhighschool.org, following our social media.
We are looking forward to celebrating all our students’ successes, talents and voice through various activities this school year. In partnership, this school year will be the best one yet!
