Rockstars Choosing to Matter in Room 25
Quarter 3 At-Home Conferences
Students have been working on using evidence from their data binders to show you how they know where they are strong, and where they need to improve. Help them stay focused by asking questions like How does this show that you're strong (or not) in this area? What areas do you think you improved the most, and why? What do you need to keep working on to improve? What is your favorite (or least favorite) subject, and why? How do your work habits and behaviors impact your learning in positive or negative ways?
Students understand they are not simply flipping through every single piece of data in their binders. They are to be selective about what they choose to talk about with you. You can help guide your child during their presentation by asking those questions. Remind them that you can look through and see the grades, or read the paper, but you really want to know what they think about themselves as students and people.
After the conference, please help your child write two goals they want to accomplish in school in quarter 4, and one goal they have for something outside of school. The data binders are to be returned on Monday, April 13 when we return from break. It might be best to have these conferences completed sooner than later, while their notes and thoughts are still fresh in their minds! Thank you.
