What's the BUZZ!
HEAR FROM THE ADMINISTRATORS
Greetings Sanford Students and Families,
We are in the final stretch of the school year. We want to take a moment and recognize our Eighth Graders. We have spent 3 years together (1 year for Mrs. Benford) and it feels like yesterday when I (Mr. Sinclair) met you in 6th grade. I am extremely proud and blessed to have spent this time with you. You have grown tremendously over the years as individuals and as aspiring teenagers. We hope you remember your time at SMS as a very positive one and remember the impact you have had not only on this school but each other. Continue on the paths you have set forth and make us proud! Congratulations on your promotion to 9th Grade. We wish you the very best!
To our returning students, we have four weeks left this year. It is very important to take advantage of every opportunity you have to improve your grades and finish strong. This has been a tough year, but it is important to remember that academic success must always be at the forefront of your focus.
Lastly, we wish all of our students and families a happy and safe summer vacation. Enjoy your much needed break.
Fly, Hornets, Fly!

May 2-6 Teacher Appreciation Week
Teachers change the lives of millions of children every day. Their immense work and impact move us beyond words. Let’s all shower teachers in appreciation and show them how much we care!
Our Sanford's educators play a pivotal role in our children’s lives, inspiring a lifelong love of learning and discovery, and making a difference in their well-being and long-term success.
While we often thank our teachers every day, it’s during Teacher Appreciation Week when we like to pause and really show our love for the teachers in our lives. We encourage you to tell your teacher how much you care…

2022-2023 School Registration
Parents, it is time to register your child for the 2022-2023 school year. Please go to the Lee County Board of Education website:
- Click “For Parents."
- Look on the left-hand side of the page and click “Registration/Enrollment Forms and Information.”
- Go to Returning Student and click the word “HERE”. Even if your child is going into the 5th grade, he or she is a returning student in the Lee County School System. Check your email for your child's Snap Code.
- Log in to the account you created in the past.
- On the Dashboard, select the 2022-2023 year and begin.
Each year, updating proofs of residency is required. We must have a current utility bill AND a current lease or mortgage statement. A 2021 Property Tax statement can be in place of a mortgage statement. A driver’s license is not an acceptable proof of residency.
If you and your family do not own or rent your home, but live with another homeowner, you will need to obtain an affidavit from the Lee County Board of Education. The affidavit forms are on this website on the same page as registration information.
To access the forms, click on the link below.

Fine Arts Camp (7th-8th Grades) June 6-17, 2022
Fine Arts Camp will be the first two weeks of June. Students will explore the areas of photography, band, chorus, and drama. Space in the Fine Arts Camp is limited to a first come first served basis. SMS Annual Continuous Improvement Plan 21-22
School improvement is the single most important business of the school in that it is a continuous process to ensure that ALL students are provided access, opportunity and support to achieve at high levels.
The Annual Continuous Improvement Plan (ACIP) identifies the academic and priority goals along with strategies for the school. School leadership and a team of teachers and stakeholders refine the CIP annually to define the school’s targeted work to raise achievement and prepare every student to graduate.
Please take a moment to review a summary of our ACIP for the 21-22 school year. Click the link below to be redirected to Sanford Middle School Website.
